The British Museum is seeking a Learning Producer: Samsung Digital Learning Programme to join the Learning and National Programmes department. The main purpose of this role is to support the delivery of events at the British Museum’s world-renowned Samsung Digital Discovery Centre (SDDC). Presently, the main requirement of the post holder is to deliver Virtual Visit workshops from the Museum’s Bloomsbury site Tuesday to Friday during school term time and work on programme development in school holidays. When the SDDC’s weekend events programme for families is resumed, the post holder will be expected to work Wednesday to Saturday.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Deliver engaging and interactive digital learning events to school groups ranging from 0–18 years old students, including specific SEN (Special Educational Needs) school events.
- Take operational responsibility for families digital learning events by providing supervisory support to SDDC Family Learning Facilitators during activities aimed at families, children and young people aged 0–18.
- To deliver events with visitors in person and with visitors watching live online, while nurturing brand recognition.
- Ensure that the SDDC is always presentable and all resources are set up and cleared away appropriately and securely.
- To support the development and redevelopment of digital content used within the programme of events or as standalone assets.
- Support with the rota organisation and training of SDDC Family Learning Facilitators.
- Communicate and liaise effectively with a pool of casual hour’s staff, other Museum departments and the Schools and Young Audiences team.
- Ensure all SDDC visitors have an enjoyable visit and have a consistently high-quality experience.
- Support with the reviewing and reporting of event evaluation, including recording of visitor numbers to all SDDC events.
- Ensure the Museum’s safeguarding policy is upheld and that everyone who accesses premises, exhibitions, staff and resources off-site is safe and protected from harm.
Person Specification:
- Experience of working as part of a team using excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly computer literature with an ability to quickly learn new digital skills.
- Awareness of current practice in museums/learning/digital.
- Understanding of the principles of safeguarding and health and safety.
- Experience working in customer service.
- Experience working with schools, families or young people.
- Experience working with digital learning.
- Ability to organise own work effectively, to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Friendly and motivated with a positive attitude to communicating with visitors.
- Commitment to managing own learning and continuous development relevant to the role.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
