Full-Time Director of Program Management Office (Remote)

Job Description

BCT Partners is growing, expanding its business, and increasing the resources needed to support its success.  As our client base and project portfolios continue to increase, so does our need for a Director of PMO to set up and manage BCT’s project management department.  Providing management consulting services across multiple practice areas, including data analytics, diversity, equity and inclusion, federal government contract supports and more, the ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with consulting firm experience who has previously set up and managed a PMO department.  This role is an important contributor to BCT’s management team, providing leadership and organized direction within the operations function.  This is an operations-oriented role, focusing on 1) managing and leading BCT’s PMO and staff, 2) establishing and maintaining the organizations approach to project management and reporting, 3) developing systems and processes to streamline communication between project and operations that helps achieve better quality, consistency, and oversight of BCT’s project portfolio.  The Director of PMO will also oversee the management of strategic company-wide planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all programs and projects managed by PMO follow established standards and frameworks, including workplans, budgets, project organization and governance structures, communication, change management and performance management
  • Monitor and maintain project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures; develop project strategies, assess project risks and issues, and provide solutions
  • Ensure consistent portfolio and project reporting, and up to date recordkeeping and documentation across all practice areas; complete monthly reports, and oversee proper invoicing and billing through coordination with BCT’s accounting staff
  • Organize and participate in project stakeholder meetings; manage and lead internal project team check-in meetings; record and follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings
  • Collegially engage and influence stakeholders to ensure they stay focused on project goals and desired outcomes; ensure project deadlines are met
  • Undertake and/or delegate additional project tasks as required
  • Assess and develop PMO roles and team configurations; supervise, coach and mentor PMO staff; provide guidance and direction to practice area directors, Program Managers, and others, as needed
  • Establish a project management practice community to facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing among project managers and essential PMO stakeholders; build and maintain relationships with senior leadership
  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts across the organization, developing the written plan and helping to drive multi-layer strategies from planning to implementation
  • Manage corporate strategic planning initiatives and, in close collaboration with finance and other strategic BCT functions, monitor progress; identify and track deliverables, and take ownership of strategic initiative communications
  • Stay current on industry trends in the development of enterprise planning tools that support agile, waterfall, and hybrid methodologies

Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by management in support of BCT’s goals and objectives.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college desired
  • 5+ years of professional experience that required coordinating projects and administrative tasks across multiple remote teams and individuals, ensuring tasks, documents and deadlines were all effectively managed and met; experience working within or developing a PMO structure required
  • Able to develop project work plans, budget forecast, and project schedules, facilitate project work- sessions and support technical decision-making
  • PMP certified is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience using Agile, Scrum, DeveOps, and /or DevSecOps methodologies for solutions and operations/maintenance is a plus
  • Proven experience with Web applications development, and experience working with teams that design, develop, implement, and support software solutions in a cloud-based environment; expertise with a multi-cloud environment is a plus, as is experience working with government agencies
  • Strong organizational, administrative and project coordination skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to listen, collaborate and build relationships with staff, clients, remote colleagues, supervisors, and others
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate when speaking and in writing, present to small groups and provide guidance and support to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to, both independently and collaboratively, solve problems, make decisions, and support change, exercise sound judgment ask questions and be open to the input and decisions of others
  • Computer, Internet and general proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
