Job Description

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who is passionate, hardworking, and eager to further their publishing career. This position requires proficiency in editing a variety of projects concurrently, confidence in steering higher-level assignments, and collaboration both departmentally and interdepartmentally.

Our ideal candidate has an ability to do intense focused work in substantive editing and content development, as well as a gift for understanding the nuances of voice as it applies to various projects. This person will be expected to represent the editorial department for wholesale projects and national account programs, and will help make sure that products go to press clean, complete, and error free.

Responsibilities:

We need the editorial equivalent of a Swiss Army knife: someone who can move between project management, editing, and writing. Your days will be filled with short and long-range assignments, each with their own needs and deadlines. You’ll need to be good at maintaining a flexible schedule, shifting your attention quickly, and working independently.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • working collaboratively with each project team to develop copy on a variety of gifting titles, from books and journals to greeting cards and children’s books
  • serves as project editor from launch to approval to print, working alongside design and production teams
  • creating copy and maintaining branding consistency for private-label products and sales projects
  • curating and fact-checking quotations
  • working with internal and external authors
  • ensuring adherence to style, branding, grammar, and proper mechanical usage for all projects

Depending on the skills and experience of the candidate, this job will be qualified as Associate Editor or Editor.
