Essential Functions and Objectives:

Responsible for aligning business objectives to designated departments and functions. Consults with leadership and supports district activities which engage schools, businesses, community leaders and organizations in a collaborative effort to improve performance and achieve team goals.

Responsible for end-to-end HR service delivery to designated departments / schools. Manages District activities, which engage schools, businesses, community leaders and organizations in a collaborative effort to improve student performance. Cultivate, nurture and sustain partnerships between DPS schools and the Denver community. Work in collaboration with DPS Central Office to provide coaching, support and guidance that enables leaders to achieve the districts expectations effectively.

Provides guidance, makes recommendations, and manages solutions for alternate methods of solving needs or issues within departments. Represents the district in meetings; provides market and customer feedback to partners and management teams. Forms strategic relationships within the community and district network. Builds trusted relationships with customers and key stakeholders by communicating needs and creating synergy.

Conducts onsite research, administers studies, evaluates survey results, analyzes and reports on initiatives and goals. Identifies and defines problems within internal departments and determines solutions to inform, influence, and propel solutions. Obtains and analyzes data to discover useful information and recommend solutions for the district. Participates in and supports decision-making processes with the goal of determining success criteria.

Ensures adequate lines of communication by conducting meetings, advocating for clients, following up, and negotiating to enhance team partnerships. Maintains communication with partners and clients on relevant topics including new service or product offerings, strategic plans, and beneficial activities. Follows up on leads and inquiries obtained by partners that compliment and support the business. 

Provides management teams the opportunity to achieve specific personal or professional goals by providing training and guidance. Develops and conducts trainings for managers, such as facilitation, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication, and effective group interaction skills. Assigns individuals for valuable job-related skills training to improve work performance.

Provide generalist support to the HR Partner/Partners in the areas of HRIS, Comp, Benefits, Recruitment, and LIFT/CCE processes or any DPS initiative as needed.

Be a strategic partner for 1 to 3 departments/schools OR as needed; provide advice and support services to leaders and employees on a broad range of human resource issues, including employee culture, staffing and retention, employee performance management, and employee training and development.

Training new HRBP’s partners on systems or processes. (Infor)

Act as consultant/SME for HRBPs regarding RIF process.

Be point contact for Google Site for Managers and Manager Monthly Communications – post resources, update links as needed.

Build effective working relationships with HR Business Partner/s, leaders and employees.

With guided support of manager, mediate and resolve employee relations issues through detailed documentation and thoroughly conducted investigations.

Collaborate with other departments to help communicate change initiatives that go out to all employees from Human Resources (i.e. open enrollment, incentive payments, staff reductions, etc.)

Help leaders implement/maintain policies and procedures into their department/school through effective teaching and training. 

Proactively influence, negotiate with and respond to union directors on department, school and district wide issues.

Ensure regulatory compliance with all legal and contract agreement requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees; collaborate with the legal and employee relations department when necessary.

Work in collaboration with district and department leadership to attain district goals.

Provide excellent customer service to all employees, stakeholders, and community members in the district.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a support role for an HR department. 

Strong interpersonal and customer-focused skills. 

Quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills and program evaluation capabilities. 

Experience working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. 

Experience with HRIS systems. 

Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize daily tasks. 

Good verbal and written communication skills including on-line and on-phone instructional skills. 

Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and call-center software, as well as Google Suite. 

Demonstrated knowledge of Lawson HRIS preferred. 

Public education experience preferred. 

Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred. 

Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.

Work collaboratively with others on a team.

Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.

Master’s Degree preferred.
