  • Providing individualized SUPPORT, GUIDANCE and RESOURCES to adoptive, foster and kinship families.

The MN ADOPT HELP Program https://www.mnadopt.org/help_program_overview/ is adding another HELP Program Specialist to their team.  This position is a Full-Time, 40-hour per week position.  Candidates from across Minnesota are encouraged to apply.  Our staff in Greater Minnesota work remotely with occasional travel to our St. Paul office and staff in the Twin Cities metro area work out of our St. Paul office with the ability to work at home part-time, if desired.  All MN ADOPT staff are temporarily working remotely with a tentative office reopening of September 2021.

This role entails:

  • Providing professional guidance and support to Minnesota’s adoption, foster and kinship communities through phone and email-based communication.
  • This support includes providing caregivers and professionals with psychoeducation; connection to adoption, trauma and attachment competent therapeutic services; access to free and low-cost educational offerings; and tailoring resources and community supports to help improve outcomes for children, youth and their caregivers.
  • Working collaboratively with the HELP Program Manager and teammates, other MN ADOPT programs, outside organizations, county systems and mental health professionals.
  • Providing community education in a variety of settings regarding the needs of those impacted by early trauma, attachment disruptions and adoption.
  • Actively engaging in ongoing program development, including outreach and marketing, that specifically addresses the HELP Program’s unique model that works to eliminate barriers to family stability.

 

The following factors will be considered in evaluating candidates:

  1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of two years of direct work experience with adoptive, foster, kinship families and/or youth.
  3. Professional understanding of adoption, out-of-home placement (e.g. foster care, guardianship care), trauma and attachment considerations across stages of development and family systems.
  4. Knowledge of Minnesota child welfare, child protection and other human services programming and systems.
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide cultural and SOGIE responsive support and resources to meet the diverse needs of the adoptive, foster and kinship families served.
  6. Team-oriented with interest in taking an active role in ongoing program development, outreach and marketing.
  7. Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills (including comfort communicating with a variety of clientele, including families, professionals and community members).

 

MN ADOPT offers competitive salaries, medical and dental insurance, 12 paid holidays per year, starting PTO at 7 hours/pay period for full time employees, and a friendly, flexible work culture.  This position has a starting salary of $54,000-$59,000 per year, depending on qualifications.
