Full-Time Federal Policy Manager

Do you want to make a difference protecting and restoring the abundance of the oceans? Do you have experience in advocating for policy change at the federal or state level? Join a dedicated team of professionals who are working to protect marine wildlife while also enhancing the capacity of the oceans to feed a growing world population.

The Federal Policy Manager will join Oceana’s U.S. campaign to protect the oceans from plastic pollution by reducing the production and use of single-use plastic. This individual will lead the campaign’s federal advocacy with Congress and the executive branch by developing advocacy strategies, preparing advocacy materials, analyzing legislation and agency proposals, persuasively presenting Oceana positions to policy makers, coordinating with coalition partners, and collaborating closely with Oceana’s field team. The Federal Policy Manager will also assist with state and local advocacy on reducing single-use plastics, as well as other Oceana campaigns and organizational objectives. The position will be based in Washington, D.C.

Strong candidates for this position will have a bachelor’s degree and five years of government relations, advocacy, or legislative experience; knowledge or strong interest in ocean conservation; experience developing and implementing strategies to win advocacy campaigns; a collaborative work style; and excellent communications skills.
