Full-Time Youth Action for the Planet Program Coordinator

California Academy of Sciences – Posted by Calacademy San Francisco, California, United States

Job Description

About the Opportunity
The California Academy of Sciences seeks a highly creative and organized program manager to design and implement a new initiative that will empower teenagers around the world to tackle pressing science and environmental challenges. Reporting to the Director of Expanded Learning and Youth Engagement, the Manager of Youth Action for the Planet will develop and oversee a strategic plan to launch a network of chapters in which teens initiate environmental action projects that regenerate the natural world. Our theory of change is that by participating in this global network, teens will contribute to biodiversity science research and conservation, strengthen their environmental literacy and advocacy skills, and collaborate to make a lasting positive impact on the planet. The program manager will solicit input from key audiences and collaborators to inform program design, identify and pursue strategic partnerships, and lead operations from inception to implementation. This full-time (40 hours per week) grant-funded position is guaranteed for a term of 3 years, with the possibility of extension, depending on available funding and program needs. This position oversees programming for students during out-of-school time, therefore candidates must be available to work on weekday afternoons, weekday evenings, and some weekends.

Organizational Culture
Join a team dedicated to the Academy’s mission, vision and values! Currently, the Academy has a new strategic plan including three initiatives – Hope for ReefsThriving California, and Islands 2030 – that leverage biodiversity science, environmental learning, and collaborative engagement to regenerate fragile ecosystems around the world.
