Primary Purpose:

Provides functional leadership in managing the multi-discipline planned, same day, compliance, and emergency work for SDG&E’s operations teams.  Responsible for actualizing the world-class-dispatching center vision through strategy, program, and process work with stakeholders.  Work flows through this group from more than over 10 unique disciplines.  This leader must drive cross departmental innovation, influence and compromise, to achieve company results and zero incidents while managing employee and stakeholder engagement.  Oversees quality and internal resourcing to ensure the right work can be done at the right level at the right time. Demonstrates critical thinking in all facets of workload management and emergency response, strong focus on safety, compliance management, client partnership and data analysis to drive operational success, improvements, and mitigate risk to our field employees, company facilities, the public and company.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for actualizing the world-class-dispatching center vision through strategy, program and process work with stakeholders and remains current on industry to always evolve. Establishes shared goals with greater than 10 unique teams whose workflows through this group; drive technology solutions whenever possible.  Plans for the future and ensures all operational today.
  • Must drive cross departmental innovation, influence and compromise, to achieve company results and zero incidents while managing employee and stakeholder engagement. Requires working with 3 to 12 different internal stakeholders and systems teams to reach one mutually beneficial solution.  Can include external contractors and technology product partners.
  • Manages strategic workload priorities, directives and compliance efforts. Responsible for 2million dollar direct budget and indirectly responsible for millions more through quality scheduling, dispatching and management of other teams’ work.
  • Responsible to ensure quality and staffing approach will deliver on strategy and produce consistent, desired quality and timely results. Manages departmental strategy for cross departmental continuous improvements requiring influencing peers at all levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in business administration, project management (or related field) and/or equivalent work experience and applicable field/technical training
  • 6 years’ experience in gas and/or electrical transmission and/or distribution construction, engineering or project management.
  • 5 years’ experience in customer service, training and development, quality assurance/improvement
  • 5 years’ experience in an area with high stakeholder management, preferably in a management position that required constant negotiation and compromise.
  • Able to grasp and maintain the “big picture” when presented with various and conflicting data and exercise good decision making under adverse conditions. Advanced
  • Experience leading others who design and stand up a new program, continual monitoring and improvement program serving multiple stakeholders is a plus. Advanced
  • Able to understand data drive decision making and how it fits into the big picture of establishing a team vision and proving a measure of its success. Leaders develop direct reports to understand the finite art of how to select data elements without bias that present a big picture.  Influences stakeholders to agree on equally substantial telling data to be produced from a single source of truth.  Culminates in transparent accountability.   • Strong interpersonal skills and self-confidence required to effectively lead and inspire a diverse workforce through a dynamic work environment and partner with multiple stakeholders who may have conflicting priorities. Advanced

  • Knowledge of field operations activities along with general knowledge of policies and procedures pertinent to region operations, including planning and construction, and emergency response activities. Beginner
  • This is a DOT safety sensitive position. A pre-assignment drug test may be required.
  • Frequently works extended days and off-hours; emergency situations usually require working long hours and major emergencies may require working extended days. Position may have on-call or call out responsibilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working in a Union/Represented environment and with Labor Relations processes, OSHA, construction safety and hazardous materials requirements. Beginner
  • Familiarity with Resource/Work Management systems, e.g. SORT, ARCOS, CPD, Click, NMS, P3E, DFIS, CMS, CIS. Beginner
