Internship Virtual Intern – Marketing (Brand)

The program will give interns the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, interact with various levels of the organization, networking opportunities, access to informational interviews, and business overview sessions.

The intern will be working based on our business core hours from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (Eastern Standard Time). Access to a PC or MAC and reliable internet during these hours is required.

Eligibility
This program is open to new grads who have completed their university or college education OR candidates who possess equivalent/relevant work experience.

Prior publishing experience is not required to qualify for the role.

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Marketing Manager, the Intern will spend six months in the Brand Marketing Department to get a broad overview of the Harlequin brand publishing and marketing efforts and the various roles within marketing. The Intern will gain experience in various areas of brand marketing, book marketing, digital advertising and product management. The Intern will focus in these areas:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Brand Marketing
• In-Book Advertising – assist in the creation and execution of select in-book drivers
• Metadata – assist in the optimization and execution of various metadata initiatives
• Promotion – assist in the execution of seasonal and trending theme activity

Publishing/Product Management
• Product Management – assist with tasks such as ISBN assignments, digital feed QCs, briefing shell development, scheduling, sales materials, etc.

Digital Advertising
• Scheduling and monitoring of ads in self-serve platforms (Facebook, Live Intent, BookBub, Google)
• Creation of requirements and briefs for assets that need to be built for campaigns, and to manage communication between the ecommerce team and advertising to meet timelines.

Email Marketing
• Create email drafts following the monthly email schedule and merchandizing plan – consists of writing, creative selection from approved assets, adding content from Harlequin.com
• Create interactive blog content specifically for the newsletter program – ex: exclusive giveaways for newsletter subscribers
• Assist in building test campaigns and in analyzing results

Qualifications:
Specific training or job experience required includes:
• Completion of university or college education, or possess equivalent/relevant work experience in the areas of marketing, communications or publishing Applicants must be eligible to work and be paid in Canada
• Familiarity with digital platforms, including social media
• Comfort with key PC or MAC software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe)
