The Violence Prevention and Support Coordinator (VPSC) is a key contributor to Boise State University’s efforts in preventing and responding to violence. This individual serves on a coordinated community response team, designs and facilitates interactive educational programs, and provides specialized, brief, no-cost, confidential support. Support services include case management, advocacy, resources and referrals, and reviewing rights and options.

Essential Functions:

Violence Prevent and Support Coordinator engages in:

  • Education
    • Develops, implements, and coordinates university-wide programs that focus primarily on awareness, prevention, intervention, and risk reduction of stalking, sexual assault, and relationship violence, and promotes healthy relationships, boundaries, consent, and bystander intervention.  This is done in partnership with the Gender Equity Center team and in coordination with the Coordinated Community Response Team to ensure alignment of messaging and efforts.
    • Implements and facilitates University-wide training for front-line service providers.
    • Develops ongoing training for student employees.
    • Researches best practices and engages in ongoing professional development.
  • Leadership
    • Serves on the Coordinated Community Response Team to advance the university’s strategic plan for responding to and preventing stalking, sexual assault, and relationship violence.
    • Provides administrative direction, leadership and daily supervision of violence prevention and support programs and other similar direct services both within the Gender Equity Center and across campus.
    • Supervises the development of Gender Equity Center’s violence prevention programs, and markets, and assesses programs.
    • Serves as acting director in absence of the Gender Equity Center director.
    • Meets with student groups/constituents to give/receive feedback.
  • Support Services
    • Provides direct crisis intervention and advocacy services to students and consultations to faculty or staff responding to students in crisis.  (This position does not do counseling, including diagnosis or treatment.)
    • Interviews clients to assess their situations, review rights and options, to determine what services may meet their needs.
    • Serves as a liaison between clients and organizations with which they may request advocacy.
    • Maintains case history records and prepares reports.
  • Consultations
    • Provides consultations on programs/initiatives with campus departments and student groups.
  • Relationship Building
    • Engages in on-going relationships with on and off campus agencies to increase effectiveness and coordination of services.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Salary & Benefits:

Salary starts at $50,000 depending on experience.
