NCDOT’s Transportation Engineer Associate (TEA) Program is an unique opportunity for emerging engineers to launch your career. Get hired as an NCDOT engineer-in-training and choose 6 rotations over 18 months exploring construction engineering, R&D, materials, marine engineering, rail, aviation, highway, geotechnical engineering, environmental planning, bike/pedestrian pathway engineering, drones, integrated mobility, photogrammetry, hydrology, planning, and more! All while working on award-winning NCDOT teams.

The Challenge
TEA is a competitive program exclusively for recent engineering graduates with a passion for transportation, public service, and the drive to lead the smart transportation revolution.
Starting pay is $65,000 with full state benefits and a pension and rises to $73,890 with graduation.
What You Bring
An interest in smart transportation engineering in areas such as environmental planning, design, construction, big data analytics, drones, R&D, and/or maintenance.
Analytical thinking and academic success.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Leadership potential.
An unofficial copy of your most recent college transcripts.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and
Less than 2 years of post-graduation engineering experience; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Notes
We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
