Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an instructional design leader to lead a team that will design and develop learning experiences for the Home Building Group. Working with a diverse set of learners across the group, you will need an innovative and agile approach to instructional design to be successful.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Training Design, Development & Execution

  • Develops training programs and initiatives using different learning formats (instructor led learning, interactive eLearning, job aids) to drive desired outcomes.
  • Establishes and maintains the design, quality, and brand standards in learning for the Home Building Group to ensure a consistent approach to training.
  • Drives alignment on learning solutions, gathers feedback from operational leaders and functional teams on areas of improvement, and adjusts programs as necessary.
  • Defines and measures success metrics to assess short- and long-term effectiveness of learning programs.
  • Partners with operational leaders to ensure training initiatives are deployed and used effectively in the field in collaboration with Regional Trainers.
  • Maintains strong understanding of trends in learning, and development both within and outside of the manufacturing industry.
  • Serves as training subject matter expert on cross-functional teams.
  • Researches and assesses external vendors for training programs, materials, and equipment; makes recommendations to leadership team as appropriate.
  • Provide periodic reporting to senior leaders on the success of the training process.

Needs Assessment, Reporting & Analytics

  • Uses operational metrics (e.g., participation rates, completion rates), reporting and other data (i.e. survey data, KPIs, etc.) to conduct needs assessments, recommend, and deliver appropriate training as needed.
  • Assesses impact of training programs on organizational performance; provide recommendations for improvement based on data.
  • Develops tracking, reporting, and KPI dashboards to present business results to various stakeholders.

Supervising Team

  • Manages portfolio of projects for content design team while ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Coaches, mentors, and provides constructive feedback to content design team.
  • Delegates tasks related to projects or daily work; gives instructions on assignments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required; master’s degree in learning and development preferred
  • Minimum 10 years related experience in instructional design
  • Instructional Design certification required; Certificated Professional in Talent Development preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional systems design.
  • Thorough knowledge of change management and project management systems.
  • General knowledge of learning technologies to include learning management systems and eLearning authoring tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of learning assessment and evaluation processes.
  • General knowledge on leading large-scale training and leadership development projects.
  • Thorough knowledge on competency / capability development.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of basic manufacturing principles such as total quality management, LEAN, or Six Sigma preferred.
  • General knowledge of facilitation techniques for in person and/or virtual learning.
  • Energetic with a strong positive presence; committed, motivates, and inspires others; cooperative and reliable.
  • Gets work done through others, leverages appropriate influence, and can thrive in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead to lead a small team of instructional designers.
