NEW HIGHER PAY: $32,460 – $56,806
The Challenge​​​​​​​
We are looking for a skilled and safe tractor trailer driver to transport cargo on lengthy trips in and out of state.
In this role you will:
    • Perform skilled and safe operation of a tractor trailer used for transporting cargo on lengthy trips in and out of state.
    • Maintain the security and good condition of the load.
    • Perform extensive record keeping, route planning, and determination.
    • Load, unload, and transport cargo using a tractor trailer for distribution of inventory from the Central Inventory warehouse to all 14 NCDOT divisions.
    • Inspect cargo loads prior to departure for proper balance.
    • Deliver cargo in a timely manner.
    • Prepare and maintain records and reports of transportation operations.
    • Assist with the preparation and execution of our annual physical inventory count and complete special projects.
  
What You Bring
    • Class A Commercial Driver’s License
    • Experience driving a tractor trailer truck with cargo.
    • Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations and defensive driving techniques, ICC rules and regulations, and proper methods of loading vehicles to secure proper and even distribution of load.
    • Experience doing minor vehicle  and auxiliary equipment maintenance.
    • Considerable knowledge of vehicle/equipment used in daily tasks.
    • Working knowledge of relevant traffic laws and other established regulatory requirements for performance of daily tasks.
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making in performance of daily tasks.
    • Thorough knowledge of established safety and health policies, and equipment capability/limitations.
    • Commitment to safety.
    • Agility and strength to load and unload the vehicle in all types of weather conditions.
 
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, or
    • A combination of education and experience.
 
Notes
    • You may be exposed to noise pollution
    • You will be frequently exposed to hazardous weather or traffic conditions.
    • You may be subject to back strain or injuries if heavy items are dropped or improperly lifted.
