Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Temporary Shelter Staff is responsible for onsite management while engaging clients in a temporary 24/7 shelter program. They maintain a safe and comfortable environment for guests. The Staff responds to issues as appropriate and monitors activity in the shelter.

Please note, this is a term-limited position, anticipated to last no more than 3 months. This position is not benefited (i.e. medical insurance, etc.).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The Temporary Miller Men’s Shelter is located at the Miller Community Center in Capitol Hill. This program will house guests from other Compass enhanced homeless shelter programs on a temporary basis in an effort to spread out the shelter beds following special spacing requirements by the city under current emergency protocols. Miller’s shelter will remain open for approximately 1-3 months or as long as the protocols are in place. Compass’ shelter guests receive trauma-informed supportive services.

LOCATION: Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle, WA

REPORTS TO: Program Management staff

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SCHEDULES: A total of 9 limited-term full-time staff. Regular schedules plus additional trainings and meetings. 3 roles in each of the following shifts: Day (8am-4pm), Swing (4pm-12am), & Graveyard (12-8am)

SALARY: $16.08 per hour

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree, desired.
Experience with difficult and/or escalated customers.
1-year experience in customer service or security, desired.
Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, is a plus.
Or relevant work experience, certificate and/or equivalent continuing professional development or education.
