Full-Time Technical Writer

Job Description

SUMMARY: 

The Technical Writer creates end-user documentation and proactively collaborates with team members, QA engineers, SW/HW engineers, and R&D/Physics groups to produce and edit technical content in a large documentation set consisting of several user manuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows established processes and writing standards.
  • Ensures the quality and accuracy of documentation.
  • Complies with regulatory standards.
  • Coordinates information for multiple projects.
  • Ensures documentation development is completed per project schedules.
  • Performs as a lead-writer on documentation projects.
  • Contributes to team standards, including: style guides, vocabularies, process improvements, information models, document design, content and reuse plans, annotated topic lists, etc.
  • Ensures safety issues related to the use of Accuray products are researched and addressed.

Qualifications:

a. Required

  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to create new content that follows existing standards Clear, concise writing style demonstrated by writing samples.
  • Aptitude to quickly learn complex technology and software applications.
  • Ability to work independently with some guidance, follow instructions, and update the team on progress; proactively ask questions, raise issues, and follow up to resolve them.
  • Ability to tactfully work with QA engineers, SW/HW engineers, and Marketing to gather information and independently obtain hands-on access to products to learn new features.
  • Ability to work remotely while collaborating well with team members and be readily available to project managers, engineers, and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud , and similar desktop and cloud based applications for graphics and screenshots.
  • Proficient use of common Microsoft Office applications.
  • 3-5 years of experience creating technical documentation.
  • Medical device experience or a technical background.
  • Experience with FrameMaker.
  • Experience with DITA XML information development processes.
  • Experience with XML tools such as Oxygen, Xmetal, EasyDITA, Arbortext or similar.

b. Preferred or Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experieince creating and maintaining application scripts in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with Complex Capital Medical Devices.
