Full-Time Technical Lead, Software Engineer (Security and Compliance)

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a Software Engineering Tech Lead for our Security and Compliance team to lead a single team of 2-5 engineers in a hands-on role. Tech Leads are responsible for building an engaging team environment, providing technical mentorship, and leading technical projects.

Civis Tech Leads exhibit sound judgment, ownership, and autonomy. At Civis, you will be responsible for making important decisions about technology, architecture, priorities and project staging. You will play a critical role in making Civis a great place to build attractive, performant, and secure software products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer or similar role 
  • 1+ years taking a leading role in significant technical projects
  • Experience building complex web applications in a SaaS environment with modern languages and frameworks – JavaScript (React or Angular) and/or Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with containerized code deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, EC2, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience building team culture and engineering processes, especially on high growth teams
  • Experience working in a scrum or agile development environment
  • Love of problem-solving, a demonstrable ability to self-start, eagerness to learn and teach others.
  • US work authorization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with information systems security and compliance for SaaS applications
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification
  • Experience with compliance framework such as SOC 2 Type 2 and/or FedRAMP
  • Significant experience with any of the following:
    • Project management, roadmapping, and KPI reporting 
    • Cloud services (AWS or GCP) such as compute, databases, VPCs, networking, storage, permission/access management
    • Database design and optimization
    • Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment with automated testing
    • Python and Bash scripting experience
