The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana invites applications for the position of Teaching Associate in Computer Science at University Laboratory High School. The Computer Science Teaching Associate will facilitate curricular collaboration on computer- and technology-related projects and pedagogy, while leading the school’s vision for future developments in its Computer Science program.

University Laboratory High School is a five-year public laboratory high school (grades 8 through 12) for 325 academically talented students. This position is a full-time, nine-month, renewable, non-tenure track academic staff appointment at the University of Illinois. Salary is commensurate with degree and experience. Required education, experience and qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or graduate level degree in Computer Science or related field with evidence of substantial coursework in Computer Science.
• Evidence of effective teaching skills.
• Ability to develop the computer science and technology curriculum for the school and to lead the school’s vision for future developments in its computer science program.
• Leadership experience with programming of computers to utilize applications, such as robotics, gaming, animation, app development, tools in maker spaces, VR/AR, data visualization and mining, and/or other emerging technologies.
• Ability to generate student excitement for computing and technology and to foster an environment of inclusion and commitment to gender equity in computer science education.
Preferred education, experience and qualifications:
• Advanced degree or graduate-level coursework.
• Experience working with middle school, high school, and/or undergraduate students in a teaching or mentorship capacity.
