Full-Time Systems Engineer

Job Description

Perkins Coie LLP has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer. This position will be part of Client Engineering team and will be responsible for system administration of our Windows environment. This is a highly collaborative position and involves working closely with end users, helpdesk analysts, application owners, software and hardware vendors, project teams and other technology engineers at Perkins as well as other law firms.

Essential functions:

  • Configure desktops and laptops so attorneys and staff can work productively and securely from anywhere, with the modern applications and the desktop experience they need.
  • Manage Group Policy for the Windows OS and desktop applications.
  • Resolve hardware and software issues on the workstation. Work with users, Helpdesk, applications team, and hardware and software vendors to quickly get to root cause.
  • Manage the configuration of our Cloud Endpoint device backup solution, Druva InSync, to ensure applications, data and software settings are migrated successfully when a user gets a new workstation.
  • Manage the firm’s enterprise printing and scanning systems.
  • Create scripts to configure hardware and software and manage settings.
  • Work with our SCCM deployment team to deploy applications, software updates, drivers, OS Upgrades, Windows 10 imaging, task sequences and scripts.

Required Skills

  • A proactive mindset, so we can stay current with new technologies and fix problems before they appear
  • A positive can-do attitude and a desire to learn
  • A deep familiarity with the Windows OS and the Registry, Office, web browsers and other common desktop applications
  • Experience managing Group Policy, logon scripts, and item level targeting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to write PowerShell, VBScript, and construct WQL and SQL queries
  • Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting, IP configuration, DNS, DHCP
  • Experience with Microsoft O365 technologies

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with Cloud technologies
  • Experience with Project management a plus
  • Experience implementing Printer Logic in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Endpoint Devices management with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Experience deploying Windows 10 Operating System images, manage drivers for hardware platforms.
  • Experience with implementing Intune Device management of Windows devices, Co-management, Configuration profiles, Compliance, and AutoPilot capabilities in a hybrid environment.
  • Experience with Citrix management, specifically around Virtual Applications and Virtual Desktops.
  • Experience with Managing thin-clients and alternate operating systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with standard systems integration methodologies/lifecycles as applied in a multi-site, distributed computing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and function as an integral part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills and negotiation skills.

Education & Experience:

Requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience, including 5 years of increasing responsibility in the core technical area, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science is beneficial.
