Position

GoPro is seeking a top tier candidate to take on the responsibility as, Systems Architect. This is a new position within the company, and this person must have a strong system architecture background.

You will be responsible for developing the system architecture for GoPro’s future, exciting, consumer product line. As the technical partner working closely with the product management and business teams, you drive tradeoff analyses involved in the various product concepts being evaluated and propose options for concepts that may have little precedent. The key deliverable is a system architecture specification, considered across eco-system deliverables and a well-defined ERD for each product under consideration. You help translate the user requirements into product requirements, define and select the key components and provide relevant risk guidance for the Advanced Engineering team.

Ideally, but not exclusively, a M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is highly desirable along with 10+ years of experience in designing and developing advanced hardware for high-speed digital systems. The candidate needs to be a technical leader with successful time management and excellent communication skills. Occasional travel to Asia may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Apply system level thinking and translate requirements into technical specifications and architectures that are robust, scalable and supportable
  • Translation of platform capability to product features.
  • Influences the platform feature roadmap. Aware of the industry developments.
  • Perform architecture feasibility analysis and make recommendations to senior management regarding product architecture options
  • Develop and document architecture specifications that serve as the reference for engineering and execution
  • Serve as system architecture lead throughout the full product execution lifecycle, end-to-end, from scoping, planning, conception, design, implementation and testing, to documentation, delivery and maintenance
  • Provide design and validation reviews for other engineers, including feedback on architecture and design issues, as well as integration, performance and scalability.
  • Help drive technology roadmaps in areas of expertise to drive innovation and meet the needs of the long term product roadmap.

Skills We’re Excited About 

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • 10+ years’ experience in digital camera systems hardware development.
  • Experience leading teams in high-speed digital camera hardware design.
  • Solid knowledge in and experience with SoC/DDR, Imaging/Sensor/Optics – e.g. multi aperture imagine, computational imaging, video AI
  • HW engineering at the block diagram level
  • Technology awareness – LCD/touch, battery, WiFi/BT/4G, USB, display port, Power management
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in architecting complex digital systems
  • Excellent communication skills
