What Your Job Will Be
Perform detailed accounting work. Maintaining and reconciling the general ledger; reconciling month end and year-end funds; auditing and preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR); managing Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budgets; reconciling and maintaining fixed asset acquisitions, disposals and related schedules; preparing associated journal entries; reviewing and processing Automated Clearing House (ACH) debit vouchers.

Perform routine duties occurring monthly, quarterly, or annually. Governmental reporting to State and Federal entities, remitting sales tax, assisting with year-end audits, and governmental census reporting as necessary.
Serve as project manager for department staff. Preparation of the City’s financial statements.
Serve as a resource and financial expert for the accounting software. Coordinate with departmental staff, new employees, and end users. Recommend and implement improvements and efficiencies for accounting procedures utilizing the accounting software.

Oversee the management of the general ledger. In accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Collaborate and work closely with key department contacts. To resolve accounting differences.

Assist the Assistant Finance Director and Finance Director with analytical projects.

Skills You Will Need
Experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master of Public Administration or Master of Business Administration is preferred, possess or be actively pursuing a CPA license, three or more years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis and systems development, and three to five years of experience with Governmental Fund Accounting is preferred.
Knowledge. Knowledge of governmental accounting policies and procedures.
