Sr Project Engineer-Continuous Improvement

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Saukville, WI


As a Kohler Operating System (KOS) team member, you will assist with leading Kohler Power Systems (KPS) processes improvement initiatives through the utilization of the Kohler Operating System and other Lean Six Sigma tools. Activities will include leading and facilitating improvement teams, conducting lean training, and driving implementation of action plans focused on achieving operational excellence in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale.


  • Identify opportunities and coordinate resources to implement projects required to achieve annual cost reduction objectives.
  • Lead/Manage process improvement initiatives: analyze current situation, understand desired state and performance gaps, understand root causes and propose solutions, test and execute solutions, monitor results and sustain.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to implement programs: estimate resource requirements and implementation costs, prepare approval presentations and documents.
  • Mentors and assists KPS associates with implementation of the Kohler Operating System including continuous improvement tools and philosophies (5S, Standard Work, 6σ, A3, RCA, Glass Walls, Layered Audits, Gemba Walks, etc.).
  • Manages CI “blue card” program for Saukville and drives accountability for completing suggested actions.
  • Manages 5S audit program and helps to facility/drive accountability for generating and completing action items from audits.
  • Develop and document standard methodologies to solve problems and find root causes; create/update improvement programs and training materials as needed.
  • Support the Black Belt/Green Belt program including participation in the identification of projects, identification of candidates and coordination of training.
  • Provide input to management toward developing and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Other projects/priorities as requested by your supervisor.


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 1+ years of experience working with manufacturing processes with demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, facilitate and coach.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge and application experience with project management, process improvement, structured problem solving, TQM tools and methods.
  • Green Belt certification desired.
