Full-Time Sports Equipment Manager

Athletes Unlimited is looking for a Sports Equipment Manager to manage, coordinate, and participate in all activities related to the purchasing, storing, issuing, fitting and repairing of athletic equipment, clothing and uniforms for all sport leagues. The Sports Equipment Manager is also responsible for maintaining strong communication and relationships with apparel partners and partner representatives (ex. Nike) within each sport. In addition, the Sports Equipment Manager is responsible for ordering on-site merchandise, promotional items, and more. The Sports Equipment Manager shall work closely with the merchandise partner in managing all logistics including but not limited to the shop calendar and promotional schedule alongside the Athletes Unlimited merchandising partner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain quality reporting of apparel purchases against apparel budget
  • Collects and manages sizing data and forms.
  • Manages issuance of apparel to athletes and staff.
  • Manage Athlete Signing Packages
  • Maintains accurate records and files regarding equipment checkout.
  • Monitors maintenance of equipment, which includes laundering, repair, and general upkeep of equipment.
  • Coordinates with laundry staff and event management team on site.
  • Estimate needs and purchase athletic apparel and hard goods; orders equipment according to department procedures; checks in equipment upon delivery to verify/receipt.
  • Travels to each respective season and/or coordinates with on-the-ground equipment support as assigned to perform equipment responsibilities.
  • Manages and monitors shipping and tracking.
  • Prepares equipment for distribution.
  • Assists with fitting athletic equipment to individual athletes.
  • Helps coordinate storage and return management on-site.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners as needed to plan, execute and complete enhancement projects on time and within budget including scope definition, testing, launch and post-launch support.
  • Manages all weekly calls with merchandising partner, creative, and marketing team.
  • Support merchandising partner and coordinate with eCommerce Manager on inventory management.

Requirements

  • At least two years of previous experience in athletic equipment management
  • Must be available to travel to and live/work in market during Athletes Unlimited seasons (~40-50% travel)
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as well as lift heavy objects (~50 lbs.)
  • Must be able to comply with all company-wide COVID-19 requirements, including full vaccination status
  • Must be comfortable with and equipped to work remotely when not in-season
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask while working effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Superior organization and project management skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to balance vendor and internal priorities
  • Knowledge of and passion for sports, preferably in softball, volleyball, lacrosse, and/or basketball
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge and comfort with technology

Benefits

This role is full-time, remote when not in-season, and will be compensated between $48,000-$50,000 annually commensurate with experience. Travel, accommodations, meals, and other specified travel expenses will be covered as part of the responsibilities of this role.
