Full-Time Solar Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) Solar Program Coordinator works as part of the MREA Grow Solar team with specific responsibilities to lead the Wisconsin Solar on Schools program. The coordinator will support Wisconsin schools in the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects and manage a module donation program aimed to reduce installation costs. The program, started in 2019, has served 39 Wisconsin schools with technical assistance, module donations, and fundraising support. As part of the MREA Grow Solar Team, the solar program coordinator will be part of a regional solar assistance program that has directly served more than 11,000 individuals resulting in more than 17 megawatts of solar on more than 2,300 homes and businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Solar on Schools Program

Administration

  • Work closely with the Couillard Solar Foundation (CSF) board and MREA leadership to define program priorities and objectives and monitor progress.
  • Respond professionally, courteously, and in a timely manner to inquiries from interested school representatives, program partners, colleagues, and other stakeholders 
  • Enter and manage data of program participants and other MREA customers as needed 
  • Track program progress and share results with CSF board and other stakeholders as necessary
  • Work with CSF board to increase donor and grant support for the Solar on Schools program

Program Management

  • Manage Solar on Schools grant applications and approvals with CSF board
  • Create and maintain program materials, including program technical assistance resources, outreach materials, and website 
  • Deliver program presentations and staff conference exhibits as needed 
  • Support participating schools in advancing solar projects by providing appropriate program resources, facilitating introductions with other successful school teams, supporting fundraising activities, and connecting them with professional assistance as needed
  • Work with Communications Director to develop and disseminate case studies of completed school solar projects
  • Work with Communications Working Group to draft press releases and coordinate media events 

Grow Solar Programs

Program Support

  • Participate in solar group buy and technical assistance planning sessions as needed
  • Support solar group buy programs as needed including supporting outreach, facilitating presentations, and developing relationships with program partners

MREA Activities

Outreach and Coordination

  • Support the preparation and management of The Energy Fair as needed 
  • Support MREA training and outreach programs as needed 
  • Attend outreach events throughout the Midwest representing MREA as necessary

Personnel

  • Manage interns and/or volunteers as needed
  • Participate in staff reviews
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development days as needed
  • Participate in MREA Board of Director meetings and planning sessions
  • Participate in staff working groups as needed
  • Follow MREA remote work procedures, including office hour scheduling, work-from-home scheduling, and activity reporting

Salary: Range per Year: $37,440 to $41,600 (Salary is commensurate with experience)
Based: Option of: Remote; Hybrid; Milwaukee, WI; Deerfield, WI; Custer, WI
Approximate Start Date: April 2022
