We are looking for a talented Software Application Engineer to join our team specializing in Cummins Electronics and Fuel Systems for our Component Business Segment in Columbus, IN.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
• Performs software application testing and customer support for products used internally or external to Cummins.
• Applies the established practices and processes on the team and supports improvement activities
• Looks for opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of test and customer support process through lessons learned activities
• Provides tool functionality training to software applciation users both in person and on teleconference.
• Basic understanding of techniques and tools to improve productivity (i.e. schedules, appointments, call plans, etc). Has a basic understanding of attitudes and behaviors to establish relationships and build trust. Understands the need to and responds with the appropriate time frame to customer needs.

Education, Licenses, Certifications
University, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required. Post-graduate (Master’s) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
Experience

Prior entry level engineering equivalent work experience (2 plus years) in a relevant discipline area is required. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
• Tools Application level testing: Can analyze defects or change requests from customers, write user level test cases, perform application level acceptance testing, co-ordinate field testing and work with tool developers for a successful tool release.
• Support Tools Customer issues: This will include collecting data, troubleshooting and resolving tools issues for end customers, Will work on Tier 1 and 2 level issues related to tools licensing, installation, data links, tool feature usage, and tool setup. Tier 3 or 4 will need to be transitioned with required details to tools developers and the customer interface will need to be coordinated until resolution. The issue troubleshooting may also need to happen at the customer site or test cells at any Cummins Facility in Columbus, Walesboro or Seymour.
• Support Electronic Tool Datalogger: Support Electronic Tool datalogger by re-imaging the devices with the new software image files and configure them to be able to connect and function as intended. Perform quality checks before handing or shipping it to the customers.
• Product Validation – Understands the measures of data quality, methods of analysis and available tools. Includes the understanding of the workflow required to schedule, install, setup, calibrate, and perform associated testing
• Tools Functionality training – Capable provide tool functionality training to tool users both in person and on teleconference. Listen to customers and establishes a working relationship with the customers.
• Manage Customer Relationships – Basic understanding of techniques and tools to improve productivity (i.e. schedules, appointments, call plans, etc). Understands the need to and responds with the appropriate time frame to customer needs.
