Job Title: Sexual Violence Mental Health Therapist
Job Status: Regular, Full Time (40 hrs/week) ($33.17/hr, Estimated Annual Salary $69,000). Currently a one-year, grant-funded position with possibility of extension.
Job Location: SASSMM Office, Searsport, ME, with remote work from home as necessary, travel to other office locations as needed.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The therapist will provide trauma-informed mental health services as part of Sexual Assault Support Services of Midcoast Maine’s (SASSMM) Mental Health Pilot. The therapist is responsible for delivering therapy services to child and adult survivors of sexual violence and collaborating with center staff to provide holistic care. This role is part of the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s (MECASA) effort to expand mental health services, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Services:
- Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy to survivors of sexual violence using trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches.
- Develop and implement individual treatment plans for clients based on individual needs and trauma histories.
- Offer culturally responsive and inclusive mental health services that reflect the diverse needs of clients.
- Facilitate telehealth sessions where appropriate, ensuring access for clients in remote areas or where transportation is a barrier.
- Ensure that therapeutic practices meet ethical guidelines and comply with state licensing requirements.
Programmatic Collaboration:
- Collaborate with local center staff to integrate mental health services with existing advocacy and support programs.
- Maintain communication with SASSMM and MECASA to assess the ongoing needs and effectiveness of services.
- Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and supervision.
- Collaborate with the Midcoast Children’s Advocacy Center as part of their Advisory Board.
- Collect and maintain accurate, confidential records of services provided.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to trauma-informed care, sexual assault, and mental health.
- Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in trauma-informed therapy and mental health services.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision with the SASSMM Associate Director or another licensed clinician.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Licensed as a mental health clinician in the state of Maine (LMSW, LCSW, LCPC).
- Previous experience working with survivors of sexual violence or trauma.
- Strong understanding of culturally responsive care and a commitment to working with diverse communities.
- Proficient in using telehealth platforms and relevant software.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in clinical documentation and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and outreach efforts.
