Job Description

We are looking for a talented Service Diagnostic Techncial Specialist to join our team in our Engine Business Segment in Columbus, IN.

 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

* This applied technology position creates electronic tools that are used to create embedded software, or manufacture and service Cummins’ products.  People in these positions will have involvement in specification, design, implementation, testing and/or release of tools.

* The work involves leadership of cross-functional project teams across controls and tools integration to develop new and unique diagnostic tools to enable Service Technicians in the field to quickly and accurately diagnose trucks and other equipment.

* Investigates electronic tools problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.

* Applies and supports the improvement of electronic tools development processes and tools. Processes include Electronic Tools Product Line (ETPL) common workflow, 7 step problem solving, application product development (requirements, design, development test, support). Tools include platform specific compilers and toolsets for Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, software lifecycle tools (such as Integrity) and requirements management (Integrity, Doors), configuration/change management.

* Obtains input and negotiates with product and software development teams and delivers verified software features, components, builds and support to product teams and end users.

* Makes decisions in the areas of software architecture, requirements, design, and test that impact product and feature design.

* Provides independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems or services with greater elements of ambiguity over the senior or lead engineer level and with full accountability to the project team.

* Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.

* Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.

 

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

* 5-7 years of relevant experience that may include mechanical/technician background

* Minimum of 2 – 5+ years of proven project leadership experience

* Previous experience with Software/feature tuning

* Familiarity of Engines and Aftertreatment architecture, function and/or performance.

* Strong Matlab/Simulink skills such as automated data collection, data processing, data analytics, and script creation. There are opportunities for test cell/vehicle testing, data analysis and system simulation to develop system diagnostic tests

* Solid technical writing experience

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
