NEW HIGHER PAY:  $45,675 – $79,932
The Challenge
We are looking for a Senior Division Utility Coordinator to join our Division 6 team in Fayetteville.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Facilitate and manage the relocation, adjustment, removal, and additions of utilities along NCDOT highways and Rights of Way while maintaining the integrity, mobility, and safety of the highway system.
    • Manage projects and engineering resources supporting our engineering design activities and project schedules.
    • Make critical recommendations and represent the Division Utility Engineer along with the Division Construction Engineer presenting decisions to internal and external departments to ensure project delivery schedules are maintained.
    • Perform and aid in the development of the final reviews of utility analysis and routing reports, utility relocation plans, special project provisions, project estimates, and cost responsibility determinations.
    • Provide supervision and technical training to staff of 1-2 DOT/CEI in team in support of the Division Managed Project Program.
 
What You Bring
    • Experience reading/interpreting highway construction plans and utility construction plans.
    • Experience communicating and negotiating with public agencies, contractors, and utility companies.
    • Project management expertise in scheduling and coordinating multiple project factors.
    • Experience planning and coordinating utility relocations.
    • Strong ability to work independently with limited supervision.
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), SAP, and CADD (MicroStation, GEOPAK).
    • Knowledge in NCDOT policies for accommodating utilities for water and sewer design.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and effectively explain utility/construction plans, contract provisions, standard specifications, inspection documents to employees, utility company staff, consultants, and NCDOT staff.
Management Prefers
    • Candidates with a Driver’s license.
Note
    • Safety toe shoes required.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, and
    • 6+ years technician experience; or
      
    • High School/GED Diploma, and
    • 8+ years of technician experience; or
      
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
