Primary Purpose:
Provide high-level technical support and broad utility knowledge to develop SDG&E’s strategic plan and emissions study-related efforts. Work collaboratively across SDG&E to help ensure implementation and alignment of company’s overall strategy. Support the development of executive deliverables, including materials prepared for SDG&E Board of Directors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction to SDG&E’s Strategic Planning group. Prepare key strategic priorities and translate them into comprehensive, actionable strategic plans. Ensure alignment of business unit strategic initiatives with company’s overall strategy. Facilitate business unit management in development of strategic plans and associated reporting metrics.
  • Support emissions study-related efforts and development ad hoc executive special projects (for example, internal analysis to support regulatory proceedings and development of executive presentations)
  • Perform financial analysis of major business and regulatory issues facing the company relating to company-wide strategic initiatives that need additional development.
  • Support the identification and prioritization of the key operational updates pertinent to Board of Directors and executive officers.
  • Lead market research and analytical support intended to provide updates on SDG&E’s operations, regulatory, and legislative issues most critical to the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent training and experience.
  • 5+ Relevant experience.
  • Must have experience managing data, working with existing and developing complex financial models and conducting external research.
  • Possess a firm understanding of the utility business, technology, regulatory, accounting/finance and industry fundamentals and demonstrated understanding of the changing dynamic in the utility industry.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and an understanding of financial, business and risk analysis fundamentals are essential. Ability to construct/update high-level analytical models.
  • Must have a basic level of understanding of the drivers of utility business performance and ability to relate individual results and findings to broader business and strategic implications.
  • Must have a proven ability to work with unstructured problem solving, think strategically, and analysis involving uncertainty.
  • Must have strong project management skills and demonstrated success at managing projects in a cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Must have proven interpersonal and organizational skills. Positively influences others and gains their respect, cooperation and support.
  • Must have a proven ability to communicate complex technical and non-technical concepts effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work with short deadlines, while providing high quality, complete and accurate product.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CMA, MBA and/or other professional certifications/advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Master’s Degree Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.

Work Schedule
HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 2-3 days per week.
