Full-Time Senior Mechanical Engineer, Heat Exchanger Design

Job Overview: 

The Senior Mechanical EngineerHeat Exchanger Design leads the heat exchanger engineering efforts. This person is responsible for techno-economic analysis, CAD, FEA, CFD, controls, test design/validation for all heat exchangers in Carbon America’s carbon capture systems. This role reports to the Chief Engineer. 

Education, Experience, Skills: 

  • BS with 6 years of experience, MS with 4 years of experience, or PhD with 2 years of experience is required 
  • Thorough knowledge in various types of heat exchangers is required 
  • SolidWorks (or similar CAD software) modeling and simulations experience is preferred 
  • Experience in an R&D setting is preferred 
  • Experience and knowledge in designing to ASME Section VIII is a plus 
  • P&ID, Instrumentation selection, DAW, Plumbing Design experience a plus 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Perform a variety of engineering tasks including design, analysis, material selection, building, testing, and validation for heat exchangers 
  • Understand fundamental principles for designing economically optimal heat exchangers for a variety of design requirements 
  • Design and build end-to-end tests for HXs 
  • Develop detailed and accurate capital cost models for near-term to long-term heat exchanger costs 

General Requirements: 

  • Full time, salaried exempt employee 
  • Maintains a standard schedule of 40+ hours per week 
  • Travel to meetings and conferences may be required
