Senior Manager, Development is a lead member of the development team who is responsible for partnering with the CEO on strategy, planning and budgeting, relationship building, and strengthening the department. You’ll join our team at a pivotal moment as we transition from outsourcing key development functions to building our internal capacity. The Senior Manager oversees all aspects of the institutional giving cycle and is the organization’s primary development writer, able to produce donor-centric communications and correspondence for a variety of target audiences. The Senior Manager is expected to interact professionally and knowledgeably with representatives from key donors, while upholding Global Nomads Group’s mission and values.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Proposal Writing and Solicitation

  • Craft grant proposals and donor solicitations, and lead collaboration with the programs and finance teams and with our external evaluator.
  • Conceive and produce Giving Tuesday / year-end fundraising messages.

Grants Management and Donor Stewardship

  • Create and strengthen tracking systems to improve pipeline management and proactively engage colleagues in anticipation of reporting needs.
  • Serve as primary organizational point of contact and keep funders apprised of progress and impact through formal written reports and informal updates.
  • Generate ideas and producing copy for quarterly e-newsletter.

Prospect Identification and Research

  • Strategize outreach and cultivation with CEO and then oversee execution.
  • Identify prospects and conduct research to create briefs/profiles about aligned priorities and giving patterns, and to recommend approaches.

Development Planning, Budgeting & Operations

  • Build organizational capacity and sustainability by implementing strategies and systems that reflect ethical and effective fundraising practices.
  • Build and implement the annual development plan and budget, and work with finance to ensure accurate reporting on contributed revenue.
  • Contribute to board development, trustee education, and senior team’s organizational long-range planning.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • At least 5 years of professional nonprofit fundraising experience with an emphasis on grant-writing and institutional giving.
  • A deep knowledge of the US philanthropy landscape.
  • Proven ability to serve as an effective ambassador, build connections, and maintain relationships with outside constituents – particularly foundation, government and corporate donors.
  • Comfort utilizing technology and learning various programs.

 

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and donor CRMs.

 

WE’D LOVE IF YOU HAVE

  • Prior experience in the k-12 education, youth development, and/or international exchange sectors.
  • The skills to quickly master this role and an eagerness to build your capacity for the next level of departmental leadership.
  • Knowledge of HubSpot, Adobe, and Canva.
