Full-Time Senior Interaction Designer

MIND Research Institute is the creator of ST Math, a breakthrough approach to learning mathematics using spatial temporal models embedded into interactive puzzles based on neuroscience and the way the brain learns.
The Senior Interaction Designer will play a critical role in our interactive content production. You will work collaboratively with mathematicians, content designers, artists, and engineers to produce our learning games and interactive classroom experiences. You will take concepts provided by our content designers, turn them into clear and powerful designs, and see them through production!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and produce ST Math games, meta-game features, and classroom activities that meet and exceed internal and industry best practices and achieve learning objectives set out by content specialists.
  • Ensure our interactive content has a cohesive, responsive and intuitive end-to-end design from first discovery through ramping and leveling.
  • Produce highly engaging and functional sketches, wireframes, level ramps, prototypes, and hi-fidelity designs, knowing when to apply pixel-perfect and when to make low-fi sketches and prototypes.
  • Use strong design processes to take projects through stages (e.g. problem definition, usability principles, research, ideation, mock-ups and prototyping), you quickly and logically explore, validate and refine design concepts and game flows.
  • Proactively and clearly communicate your ideas, learnings, recommendations and document specifications, etc. in a visually clear and consistent manner.
  • Shepherd the learning content through all stages of production to ensure the game stays true to design intent and meets quality standard.
  • Remain organized and work in an efficient manner at all times.
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • 5-8+ years industry experience shipping high quality solutions across a variety of devices (desktop, tablet, IOS, Android, etc.)
  • A portfolio that demonstrates great design craft with ability to remain faithful to projects creative direction regardless of style, technology, platform, etc.
  • Proficiency in your tools of the trade for wireframe, visualization, animation, and prototyping
  • A track record of working in diverse environments and on projects in various stages from ideation to production.
  • Inventive ability to leverage technology as a creative opportunity and can generate lots of ideas and hone, with little direction
  • Eagerness and adaptability to learn and design to the ST Math design standards, with the ability to raise the bar on our designs and learning outcomes
  • Solid understanding of K12 mathematics
  • Passion for designing the world’s best mathematics learning games
Even better if you have:
  • Experience with ST Math and teaching/tutoring math
  • Front end development for prototyping
  • Degree in HCI, Interaction Design, UX Design, Mathematics or other related field
