Job Description

Boston Children’s is hiring a Senior Human Resources Business Partner, with a focus on patient care, nursing and allied health service areas (inpatient and outpatient).  The Senior HR Business Partner reports to the Vice President of HR and will be an integral member of a client-service focused team.

This Senior Human Resources Business Partner will:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to client service lines. Understand the business goals and objectives of the client and enterprise and collaborate with client managers and leaders to deliver service and workforce solutions.
  • Identify management and workforce needs within the client service line. Work with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to design, develop, recommend and deliver effective HR Programs.
  • Educate and coach client about HR policies, programs and standards
  • Assist with organizational design and succession planning
  • Identify trends, labor risks and opportunities for improvement within assigned client service lines. Help design and implement employee engagement action plans
  • Identify opportunities to improve workforce diversity and inclusion; implement organizational EDI initiatives
  • Analyze data and provide summary of observations for a variety of management and decision making uses
  • Advise on performance management, accountability, corrective action and progressive discipline.
  • Partner with client and Compensation/Total Rewards on programs and initiatives

To qualify you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in HR Management or Business Administration preferred
  • 8-10+ years of experience working within Human Resources, including at least 5 years as business partner, employee relations advisor and/or in an HR management role
  • Strong familiarity with all HR functions and domains (e.g., Employee Relations/Experience & Labor, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Total Rewards/Compensation & Benefits, Compliance, Diversity/Inclusion and Equity, etc.)
  • Prior experience in academic medical center, hospital, healthcare or higher education setting strongly preferred, particularly experience working with nursing and/or allied health
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills that relate to all levels of the organization and ability to present to executive leaders and other employees throughout the enterprise
  • Strong consulting and project management skills; experience working within a team environment in a heavily matrixed team environment with competing priorities
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail, be responsive, deal with ambiguity, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment
  • Data savvy, with ability to drive operational excellence using metrics; strong fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office applications; knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of organizational structure and applicable laws, policies and procedures and regulations regarding employment practices
  • Strong project management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills

This position is eligible for a part remote work schedule.

During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs
