Full-Time Senior Diversity & Inclusion Manager

Job Description

Perkins Coie LLP has an immediate opening for a Senior Diversity & Inclusion Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the diversity and inclusion learning and education strategy through the research, development and delivery of programs that promote and sustain diversity, inclusion and belonging. The role is also responsible for the development, execution, management and measurement of new retention and development initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the Chief D&I Officer and D&I Director in developing and implementing the firm’s strategic goals regarding diversity and inclusion learning and education goals. Design, facilitate, and scale creative and inclusive learning experiences (both virtual and in-person) that align to the Perkins Coie culture of inclusion and drive engagement.
  • Work with the Chief D&I Officer and Director of D&I to identify and address training needs and implement firm-wide programs.
  • Help translate strategy into action. Assess current offerings and drive continuous improvement and evolution of learning and education portfolio based on knowledge of creative solutions that align with the learning behaviors of a global workforce.
  • Help define success metrics, measure results, and provide reporting on the impact of the learning experiences.
  • Develop enterprise wide and customized curricula.
  • Support the development and execution of new retention initiatives in the firm’s D&I strategic plan.
  • Partner with the staff and attorney learning and development groups, facilitate educational opportunities including workshops, seminars, webinars and educational communication for firm employees, partners and clients.
  • Influence decision makers across all levels without positional authority to improve organizational efficiency.
  • Develop meaningful relationships and liaise with team members in other departments including Recruiting, Professional Development and Human Resources to support effective cross-functional collaborations.
  • Develop and report to Chief D&I Officer and D&I Director metrics for measuring effectiveness and impact of all relevant programming.
  • Develop and manage relationships with various internal and external clients, including staff and lawyers.

Travel:
This position will require travel, in accordance with the firm’s travel guidelines due to COVID.

Required Skills:
Must have experience developing and leading D&I initiatives in the legal industry. Strong demonstrated inclusive leadership skills are required. Must possess a growth mindset, perform well under pressure, and be able to take ambiguous concepts and crystalize them into actionable steps. Must be interested in identifying and communicating on both quantitative and qualitative measures of success. Must have strong emotional intelligence, including good self-awareness and empathy. Strong issue-spotting skills and an ability to proactively respond to those issues are required. Ability to develop projects and see them through to completion. Must excel in efficiently and effectively gathering different viewpoints and driving toward consensus. Must be agile and able to adapt to unique and changing situations in a fast-paced environment. Must be intellectually curious, consultative, results-oriented and be able to serve as a thought leader and partner in the D&I space. Must be experienced and comfortable in communicating with, and presenting to, different audiences using a variety of mediums.

Preferred Skills:
Experience in professional services

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field of study or equivalent; advanced degree strongly preferred. At least four years of experience developing and leading diversity and inclusion enterprise-wide programs. Experience in measuring and reporting on the efficacy of large projects and initiatives. Experience in managing individuals and teams.
