POSITION SUMMARY:

The CEO of Strides Toronto is seeking a highly strategic and dynamic leader to join the Senior Management Team as the new Senior Director, Corporate Services. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the non-profit sector and a transformational mindset to develop and implement a high functioning, best in class Corporate Services Department. The successful candidate is a highly skilled strategic leader who can build capacity and has the ability to adapt to competing priorities, while leading a team of four direct reports in the following areas of corporate services:

  • Finance and Administration
  • Human Resources
  • IT, Facilities and Lease Management

The Senior Director, Corporate Services is a vital part of the Senior Management Team and works collaboratively to manage resources and budgets, promote a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Oversees the execution of all financial planning, accounting and reporting, payroll and budget management activities for Strides, to ensure that it meets organizational, regulatory and legislated reporting and filing requirements.
  • Oversees the assigned department budgets, monitoring budget adherence, identifying variances, resolving issues, authorizing expenditures and ensuring the timely preparation and delivery of all required financial projections, reports and submissions.
  • Oversees the development and management of comprehensive human resource strategies and programs to ensure consistency, compliance and cost effectiveness in the areas of compensation, benefits, recruitment, retention, employee and union relations, training and development and performance management.
  • Leads integration and transformation of technology within programs and administration to align organization strategies.
  • Manages IT risk by strengthening privacy and security measures and ensuring business continuity.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, performance management and guidance to direct reports and builds a culture of innovation, entrepreneurial thinking and service excellence for internal and external clients.
  • Develops sustainable strategic long-range fiscal, information management, facility and administrative plans to achieve the organization’s mission, vision and values.
  • Leads complex projects and transformational initiatives in close collaboration with the Senior Management Team and other stakeholders.
  • Influences collaborative agendas at the Board, funder, community partner and Senior Management level according to changing/evolving business trends and priorities within not-for-profit sector.
  • Provides on-going business continuity planning and anticipates and responds to new risks in Corporate Services.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Post-secondary degree in finance, business administration or similar/related discipline.
  • Professional designation (CPA-CA, MBA, CHRE) an asset.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
  • 10+ years of experience in the areas of finance, human resources, legal and risk management combined with progressive management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with non-profit accounting standards and public sector accounting and reporting at a senior level.
  • Leadership experience to supervise, mentor and coach direct reports in keeping with sound human resource management practices in order to build and maintain a healthy and productive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing strategic advice and expertise to senior management and Boards of Directors.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in computer and various software applications including accounting programs, MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Zoom.
  • Full understanding of ministry direction, sector players and key stakeholders, including government policies, legislation and regulations.
  • Awareness of the role of diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of Anti-Black Racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Knowledge of the cultural diversity of communities served by the agency.
