Shubert currently owns and operates 17 Broadway theatres, six off-Broadway venues, and the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia.

Its consumer-facing brands—Telecharge for retail ticket sales and Broadway Inbound for tour operators, and the travel industry—sell millions of tickets each year.

We have the following opportunity available:

TITLE:    Senior Core Developer (SCD)

LOCATION:   Glen Rock, NJ Office

WORK HOURS:  Monday through Friday, 9am – 6pm. Additional time may be required.


General responsibilities:

The Senior Core Developer (SCD) is an advanced level position that is responsible for design, coding, modifying, supporting, troubleshooting, documenting, and testing software for Shubert Ticketing’s Core systems and supporting applications that are developed in C language utilizing PASSPORT libraries. This includes applications that support client services, inventory management, accounting and inventory reports, group sales and all supporting applications.  SCD is the subject matter expert on these applications.

SCD keeps management and other key stakeholders aware of the status of their responsibilities.

SCD interacts with clients, business analysts, quality assurance team members, and other IT staff members to analyze, design, and implement user specifications.

Work duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Use logic and technical knowledge to design and build complex applications to meet user requirement/specifications in C language utilizing PASSPORT libraries
  • Creates and edits documentation to describe program operation and function
  • Analyzes, maintains, designs, modifies, codes, supports, and tests new and existing application programs
  • Provides support to analyze and resolve complex problems that arise.
  • Acts as a team member on large-scale complex projects that require coordination, planning, and scheduling of work and resources
  • Aids in skill development of other technical staff members
  • Researches the causes and solutions of software defects
  • Helps to plan and prioritize assignments to meet user requirements, as a member of a SCRUM/Agile team
  • Participates in meetings and openly discusses software development issues
  • Uses experience and knowledge to assist in the development of user requirements for new and/or existing applications
  • Serves as an evaluator/reviewer of projects/applications as required
  • Tracks and encourages progress to complete assigned supported tasks
  • Keep all interested parties aware of assigned priorities and progress
  • Provides support to analyze and resolve complex problems that arise
  • Aids in the skill development of programmers or technical staff


  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related field, or a combination of experience with formal training that demonstrates a good knowledge of software development lifecycle in diverse technical and business environments.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with increasing responsibility leading to designing complex and diverse online technical environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of C/C++ language in Windows and AIX
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Socket Programming
  • Knowledge of Pascal is a plus
  • Knowledge of Passport is a plus
  • Demonstrated skill in writing readable and maintainable program code
  • Demonstrated skill in writing readable and maintainable documentation
  • Demonstrated skill in supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting large software programs
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of relational database design, programming and information retrieval techniques in SQL for Informix and MS SQL
  • Knowledge of IBM MQ queue management is a plus
  • Broad knowledge and familiarity with the software development lifecycle including Scrum/Agile
  • Knowledge of structured programming techniques and practice
  • Knowledge of object-oriented and message-oriented techniques and practice
  • Demonstrated skill in testing and debugging code
  • Effective listening, negotiating and relationship building skills
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Strong writing and analytical skills that can be applied to producing user requirements and technical requirements
  • Ability to collaborate and deal positively with conflict
  • Ability to make effective and credible presentations
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Aptitude for problem solving
  • Aptitude for quickly becoming familiar with, and gaining expert knowledge of large systems, servers, and client applications with minimal guidance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, subordinates, and management to accomplish software development goals
  • Ability to influence others without the authority to do so
