Senior Commissioning Engineer – Power Generation

We are looking for a talented Senior Commissioning Engineer – Power Generation to join our team specializing in Service for our Distribution Business Segment in Northern Texas or Oklahoma (Hybrid).

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

* Provide technical support for complex service related issues.

* Serve as technical support resource providing diagnostic support on complex and hard to diagnose warranty and non-warranty repair events.

* Formulate and direct complex repair plans.

* Document the results of diagnostic and repair actions in the appropriate database clearly and concisely.

* Manage the escalation of more complex requests to the appropriate level of support.

* Lead diagnostic support and escalation process improvement activities.

* Maintain knowledge and technical understanding of current products and new products.

* Promote Cummins Service capability and service programs to increase sales.

* Distribute technical communications to the assigned region.

* Investigate product issues at customer or dealer locations.

* Mentors and coaches technicians in the region to improve capability.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Diagnostics Application – Translates customer complaints to develop troubleshooting plan; troubleshoots issue following guided work flows, procedures, specialized equipment such as mechanical and electronic service tools, and diagnoses computer software to isolate failed components to enable a successful repair; validates repair by duplicating complaint to ensure it has been resolved; documents results of troubleshooting in business systems to communicate what has been done for payment and historical tracking.

Technical Escalation – Obtains product technical issue information and utilizes available resources including data management tools; elevates issues to a higher level of expertise, balancing timeliness of customer response with investigation efforts; captures all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database in order to ensure seamless transitions and accurate response to ticket resolution in a timely manner.

Service Documentation – Creates and verifies customer, equipment and technical information; captures specific data using required service tools; follows procedures and documents required information in the service management system in order to have an accurate record of the work done.

Electronic Service Tool Application – Identifies the suite of available hardware and software tools required for a service event; utilizes the appropriate electronic tool set to maintain the product or diagnose and troubleshoot an issue; interprets electronic tool results or recommendations to determine next steps for service resolution.

Service Capability, Capacity and Coverage – Applies the Service Capability, Capacity and Coverage process to understand customer expectations, business priorities, and where products are operating to provide capable and consistent service through available parts, information, tools, and qualified technicians according to published standards; analyzes service capability metrics to identify, prioritize and resolve channel development opportunities within the service network.

Resourcefulness – Securing and deploying resources effectively and efficiently.

Tech savvy – Anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

Demonstrated role competence is required. College, university, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline is preferred This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Intermediate level of relevant work experience required. Prior experience in a technical role is preferred.

* Safety – Well versed in Lock Out Tag Out , and Electrical Safety requirements.  Provides safety oversight and awareness for all Cummins employees and Cummins paid contractors when on project sites.  As senior PG technical leader, executes all work in a manner that mitigates all safety considerations.  Supports CSSNA safety efforts as SME as required, i.e. Electrical Safety Field Audit Team, assisting with electrical safety incident investigations.

* Leadership – Schedules and directs PG and AES Technicians on complex project sites to effect safe, professional, and profitable system commissioning.  Provides OJT opportunities for technicians in course of project commissioning work.

* Organization – Prioritizes work, training, and time off to assure healthy work/life balance and to accurately forecast time commitments.

* Communication – Clearly and objectively communicates using appropriate communication means.  Keeps Cummins and external customer project teams apprised of project status and issues in a timely manner.

* Documentation – Assures project documentation is current and reflects field modifications.  Processes documents in timely way to assure archival record drawings and supporting documents are accurate.

* Skills and Technical Knowledge – Stays current with product features, operational modes, and diagnostic techniques through classroom and OJT training.

* Career Development – Pursue technical and soft skills enhancement opportunities.  Prepare to cross support peers and/or support supervisor as needed.  Document career and development plans in TMS.  Work with supervisor to form agreement on development areas for team and self.

* Customer Service – Treats every customer interaction as a “moment of truth”, interacts with customers with the understanding that each encounter reflects Cummins professionalism and should build a stronger preference for Cummins brand.

* Responsibilities. – Field Commissioning engineer responsible for onsite startup and testing of complex power generation projects including switchgear, high voltage, multiple unit paralleling. Commissioning and support for Cummins equipment and 3^rd party manufactures. Responsible for building and executing onsite commissioning plans and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and Cummins safe work practices.

+ Collaborate with project management, sales, customers and AES service operations to ensure

+ Successful on time project commissioning.

+ Provide advanced technical support for AES P.G. technicians troubleshooting complex issues.

* Primary support area will be the South Region of United States. Position can be based anywhere in the South Region (Northern TX or OK preferred).
