Full-Time SEM Strategist

Job Description

SUMMARY:
Are you a paid search junkie? Do you lay awake at night thinking of ways to innovate in the digital space? Are you looking for an opportunity to impact the business of global brands? Then perhaps the SEM Strategist role is for you!

We are looking for a paid search expert that excels at utilizing data to optimize SEM initiatives while also understanding the ever-changing digital behavior of today’s consumer. This senior level role will provide oversight and direction to a rapidly growing team of SEM analysts and will be supporting numerous enterprise level SEM campaigns being managed at global levels. LOCATIONS: 

  • We currently have in-person roles located in Charleston, SC and Nashville, TN.
  • We also have full-time remote positions in the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

 

SEM Strategy

  • Provide direction, feedback and support for team of SEM Analysts driving day-to-day delivery for assigned paid search clients
  • Activate new search platform opportunities with existing clients
  • Regularly perform & fully document internal audit of existing accounts
  • Ensure current best practices are utilized throughout client portfolio, including advanced testing and automation where appropriate
  • Communicate directly with vendors and clients to solve challenging issues and instill confidence in our team
  • Serve as expert-level support for external client communications and in-person presentations (often times leading the strategy portions of the discussion)
  • Optimize paid search accounts on an as-needed basis

Team Development

  • Provide guidance and mentorship in areas including setup, budgeting, optimization, tracking, reporting, testing and quality assurance
  • Play a leading role in analysts’ growth and career paths
  • Assist team members with complex campaign executions, client requests and planning sessions

New Business

  • Support executive leadership team with applicable new business opportunities
  • Perform audit of prospective clients’ existing campaigns to quantify waste and opportunity
  • Identify effective strategies based on desired goals and budget of prospective client
  • Provide media budget estimates/recommendations where applicable

New Client Onboarding

  • Assist analyst with setup of new accounts within agreed-upon timeline including
    • Communication with vendors for account/platform setups
    • Determine appropriate overall campaign structure and naming
    • Keyword, Ad Copy, ad extension, audience and geographic setup and QA
    • Coordinating tracking code needs with analytics team
  • Provide frequent and clear progress communication to all applicable team members

Technology & Analytics

  • Ensure proper integration of client accounts with internal reporting & management platforms
  • Provide feedback on internal media management tool development and support developers by acting as a liaison between the account team.
  • Provide support to analytics team for online to offline data matching for applicable clients
  • Provide support to technology partners tasked with developing internal data systems and applications

Account Performance

  • Drive the strategy for the media plan through performance oversight on an ongoing basis across all active campaigns.
  • Ensure analysts understand the objectives for their campaigns, and establish performance milestones they can measure their short and long-term campaign performance against

Account Leadership

  • Have a full understanding of all primary and tertiary business goals for your clients, as well as short and long-term pain points and opportunities that are important to each of the client stakeholders on the account
  • Support account team with preparation of ongoing Statements of Work for your clients and ensure efficient delivery against those scopes
  • Offer counsel and recommendations to both clients and internal team members based on the clients’ needs and channel objectives
  • Thorough and ongoing research of client business and industry to ensure you understand not only media performance, as well as risks and opportunities for their business overall
  • Work with Media Director to evolve ongoing media plans and deliver new opportunities to clients

  • Ensure quality work from your search teams in order to meet/exceed client expectations
  • Communicating with thoroughness and clarity internally and externally
  • Full understanding of complete scope of work for your accounts, business objectives for the account, and the current media performance and budget pacing for all assigned accounts
  • Zero missed deadlines
  • Enhanced & value driven reporting (always challenging status quo)
  • Provide guidance for constant testing
  • Strengthening of the working relationship with account team members

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Absolutely Must Have:

  • A strong working knowledge of digital media channels, including paid search, paid social and programmatic
  • Experience in both the B2B and B2C worlds
  • Business analytics experience – web analytics or otherwise
  • Experienced leader / mentor of digital teams and clients
  • Flexible, self-starter with the ability to take ownership of numerous, fast-moving projects at once
  • Strategic thinker with proven ability to build and grow client relationships
  • Ability to analyze data and information and translate into actionable strategies
  • Strong written, verbal and visual communication
  • The desire to pick up the phone and talk to clients versus solely relying on electronic messaging
  • Flexibility to travel (20%)

Would be Awesome to Have (but not necessary):

  • Deep project management experience
  • Experience in playing a pivotal role in growing a business
  • eCommerce expertise
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to create presentations and tell a great story
  • Experience in selling in a service-based business
