As the PNO Project Support Officer, you will be expected to provide regular timely and accurate contract schedule information to the team’s engineering specialists and assist them in task based resource allocation. You will be responsible for maintaining a wider line of communication with the Submarine Delivery Agency by approving and reporting on resource utilisation as set out by your financial delegations.

This is an exciting key role bridging between the wider SDA organisation, the PNO team and the contractor. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, motivated to prioritise the acquisition and interrogation of unstable project information from multiple sources and present it in a useful format for resource management activity undertaken by the wider team. All training on specialist systems will be provided and candidates should be willing and able to demonstrate the capacity for personal skill development. It is essential that the candidate already possesses proficiency in the use of Microsoft desktop software packages.

Responsibilities

General day to day responsibilities will include:

• Working within your financial delegations, approval of team travel and overtime related expenditure ensuring they follow governance procedures and represent value for money
• Carrying out monthly forecasting and provision of feedback, to SDA Corporate Finance, on how the team is performing against the allocated budget. Working with the Head of PNO to provide input into the quarterly 10 year financial look ahead for the team.
• Generation of monthly team performance reports to customers and stakeholders following feedback from subject matter experts on topics pertinent to the team aims and objectives
• The recording, capturing and tracking of team risks (security/performance/information) within the specialist MOD tool sets.
• Maintenance of the team’s supporting documentation such as ‘work or organisational breakdown structures’ as required and support to wider organisation programmes of change
• Being a point of contact for the team for queries on the organisation time recording/cost capture system
• The regular acquisition and summarisation of key submarine build event dates and onward distribution of these to the Technical and Quality teams to assist in workforce planning
• Provision of assistance to internal SDA customers in defining contractor milestones requirements and coordinating the response from subject matter experts
• Management of the internal programme for PNO representation at submarine build committees ensuring there is always appropriate representation
• Support to the Technical and Quality teams in the creation and maintenance of schedules covering audit and build surveillance activities.

• Project Environment Awareness
• A Level, or equivalent qualification, such as ONC or BTEC (Level 3)
• General IT Competence (MS packages)
