Full-Time Science Software Engineer

CeresImaging – Posted by CeresImaging Anywhere

Job Description

Ceres Imaging is a venture-backed company developing a technology that helps conserve water and fertilizer in farms. Specifically, we use aerial imagery and spectral image processing to monitor crop variables. The primary delivery mechanism for our imagery is a web application that allows customers to view the imagery of their fields over time (see the demo on our website).

We help the farmer use this data to improve crop management practices like fertilizer application, irrigation schedules, stress/problem detection, and other applications. Currently we have substantial funding, and paying customers throughout the United States.

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience working on scientific problems to help us improve our existing products and provide the foundation for our next generation of products. The person in this role will work closely with scientists to provide infrastructure to enable rapid iteration, will contribute to incorporate new scientific products into production pipelines, and will help guide other engineers in supporting those efforts. These efforts will entail contributing to and working with our machine learning, computer vision, data collection, and distributed systems code bases.

We value a desire to creatively solve problems. If you have a strong track record of embracing new challenges, we will consider applicants who are driven to learn and have the intensity to embrace our technology. We place more value on your ability and attitude than specific experience.

Desirable Experience/Skills/Qualifications include:

  • Foundational understanding of software engineering principles and design is required. Experience with or a desire to work with fault-tolerant and scalable production systems is essential.
  • We work primarily in Python; experience building things in Python or strong experience in another object-oriented or functional programming language is required.
  • Experience in a quantitative experimental scientific field (eg *-physics, computational biology/neuroscience) is a plus. Ideal candidates will be interested in bringing experimental experience to process-optimization and product improvement and mentor engineers in the same.
  • Experience working with optical systems, computer vision (OpenCV), linear systems, and/or machine learning are all desired.

Ceres Imaging offers competitive compensation, unlimited PTO, 401k, work from home Wednesdays, and other employee benefits such as an attractive equity package commensurate with candidate qualifications.

Ceres Imaging is an equal opportunity employer.

At Ceres, we have a clear vision: to be the place where a diverse mix of talented people want to come and stay to do their best work. We do this to enable farmers to make better decisions through data, thus supporting the global food supply chain as well as our planet.

Ceres recruits, employs, trains, compensates and promotes regardless of race, gender, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law.
