Job Summary:
The Sales Assistant, reporting to the Senior Sales Director, will provide support for the Harper US sales team. Duties include preparing weekly sales data information for analysis and supporting US adult proprietary projects. Other tasks include sales data assistance for the Adult Wholesale team. This position will also assist in creation of online catalogues for Edelweiss, BookManager and Catalist.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• US Adult Sales (70%)
o Provide sales support for US adult proprietary projects
o Prepare weekly sales reports and other sales numbers as needed for sales analysis
o Assist in preparing seasonal and monthly buying grids
o Attend weekly meetings with US SMP team
o Assist with title presentation at CND sales conference
o Assist in the creation of BL lists for promotion and sales
o Attend weekly projections meetings and prepare backorder and missing order reports
o Present titles at seasonal digital (Kobo, Apple) sales appointments

• Sales Data (15%)
o Assist in the building of seasonal Edelweiss catalogues and launch catalogues
o Audit images and bibliographic data for all digital catalogues
o Assist in loading titles and images to Catalist in advance of national buying appointments
o Assist in loading titles and images to BookManager throughout buying season

• Sales – Adult Wholesale (15%)
o Maintain Wholesale master grid-projections and co-op
o Maintain Wholesale sales analysis grid
o Provide sales assets to Wholesale accounts as needed
o Approve booking agreements based on master grid for all Adult titles

• 1 year of experience in publishing or book retail would be an asset.
• Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Publishing Program Certificate would be an asset.
• Knowledge of Canadian Publishing industry.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications and an ability to learn a variety of company systems.
• Strong data evaluation skills.
• Strong written & oral communication and critical thinking skills.
• Able to multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be results-oriented and take appropriate steps to achieve goals.
