About Lacy Consulting Services:

We are committed to helping environmental organizations and sustainability-focused businesses reach their community and conservation goals using social science techniques and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. We use applied social science and robust relationship-building to better understand our stakeholders.

Position Description:

You will be working closely with a busy and outgoing entrepreneur who runs a company that assists environmental organizations in achieving both their social and environmental outcomes. We are looking for a JEDI specialist with a background in Conservation/Environmental Science that has experience facilitating workshops, creating JEDI-centered coursework, and has incorporated JEDI into conservation planning. This position will take the lead on creating JEDI-focused workshops and facilitating them for conservation-minded companies. The JEDI in Conservation Specialist will also come in as a collaborator with the business. Much of this work will focus on trust-building with stakeholders for various companies. This includes projects such as Lacy Consulting Services’ work in Mexico conserving bat populations through community engagement, projects in the Bahamas facilitating working relationships between fishers and law enforcement to prevent poaching and create marine protected areas, and building trust between diverse, BIPOC farmers and conservation organizations across North America. This position will expand their strengths to encompass work such as JEDI in conservation programming, facilitation, and taking the lead on new projects.

Tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Create JEDI in conservation programming and curriculum
  • Review past JEDI work at Lacy Consulting and turn them into workshops
  • Facilitate workshops, create summary documents, and present findings
  • Attend workshops and taking notes for JEDI in conservation programming

Requirements:

  • Lived experience with diverse identities (trans, BIPOC, disabled, religion, LGBQIA+)
  • Coursework taken in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of experience in the environmental field (academic or workplace experience)
  • Willing to collaborate with other JEDI consultants, as needed
  • 2+ years in workshop facilitation

Preferred:

  • Degree in Environmental Science
  • Existing network of JEDI consultants
  • At least 1 published paper
  • Ability to write and speak in more than 1 language (Spanish and/or Portuguese

especially)

  • Personal experience with JEDI principles
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally post-Covid

Compensation

As the work level alters between projects, this position will be hourly and part-time. For the 6-month contract, the JEDI in Conservation Specialist will make $35/hour for up to 20 hours/week to start. As a startup business, we do require a level of investment and trust built before continuing on past the initial 6-month contract. Depending on our level of project work after 6 months, this contract may be extended and put into a full-time, salaried position.

The contract is subject to performance review and the employer will provide a 30-day notice to terminate if the contractor is not meeting performance standards which will include both tangible and intangible project and workplace metrics.

Lacy Consulting Services is an equal opportunity business. We will not discriminate based on age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, political affiliation, or any other identities.
