Relief Staff is a part-time variable hours position working as substitutes for our full-time staff to work in Compass Emergency Shelters & Day Services as well as Compass Affordable Housing buildings.

ABOUT THE POSITION: Responsible for providing direct services and engagement to individuals experiencing homelessness in relationship-based programs (day programs, overnight shelters and permanent affordable housing). There are 4 different types of duties depending on various locations worked.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Compass Housing Alliance develops and provides essential services and affordable housing for those experiencing homelessness and in low-income situations in the greater Puget Sound region. LOCATIONS: Various programs through the Puget Sound area. May work at multiple programs.

REPORT TO: Program Coordinator/Manager


HOURS: LESS than 29 hours per week on average

SCHEDULE: No regular or guaranteed work schedule

SHIFTS: Most need for graveyard and weekend shifts, with some day and swing

SALARY RANGE: $15.75 or $16.56 per hour (rate is location dependent)

An Associate degree is desired in human services or social work-related field or relevant work experience, certificate and/or equivalent continuing professional development or education.
A minimum of 1-year experience in customer service, required.
At least 1-year experience in human services (work and/or volunteer), desired.
Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, desired.
Experience working with clients with English as a second language or where there is limited English speaking ability.
