Job Title:          Receiving Lead

Reports to:       Receiving Supervisor

Location:          Verdi, NV

Schedule:         Monday – Friday, 5:30am to 2:00pm

Receiving Lead Compensation Range: $23.50/Hr – $28.50/Hr

Target Hiring Range: $23.50/Hr – $25.50/Hr

General Summary:  The Receiving Lead is responsible for the timely and accurate receiving of all products into the Verdi facility. The primary responsibility for the Receiving Lead is to ensure that daily goals, as set by the department Supervisor and Manager are met in a safe, efficient, and quality oriented manner. This is a hands-on, frontline leadership role that will provide the ideal candidate with ample opportunities to train, coach, and mentor fellow Receiving Department Team Members.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Training

  • Assist in the training of merchandise receivers, contract employees and temp staff in all Receiving functions.
  • Set the pace for the rest of the receiving team, communicate expectations on workloads and successfully manage team to complete daily department goals.
  • Assist co-workers to recognize and handle problems as quickly and as constructively as possible.
  • Review safety training issues as necessary: lifting, emergency exits/procedures, equipment operation etc.

 

Operations/Product Flow

  • Assist the Receiving Admin to coordinate the flow of inbound shipments into the Verdi facility.
  • Coordinate the unloading and palletizing of inbound shipments.
  • Ensure accurate accounting of all inbound freight.
  • Ensure that all inspections and verifications are done in accordance with C-TPAT requirements.
  • Assist Receiving Supervisor and Manager in developing an effective staffing plan based on inbound volumes.
  • Assist in daily work activity including unloading / loading trailers, receiving, storing, and task pulling as needed to meet daily goals.
  • Assist and championing process improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, product flow and safety within the facility.

 

Communication

  • Prepare and present information to the receiving staff at the daily scheduled morning meetings to ensure co-workers are kept informed of daily workload, and goals.
  • Effectively communicate on-the-fly as daily goals are updated or change throughout the day.
  • Act as a resource for the resolution of technical problems within the department.
  • Escalate incoming supplier quality issues to the Receiving Supervisor and Admin for further escalation.
  • Provide the department manager and supervisor with information about co-worker’s quality and quantity of work, offer suggestions and recommend action when necessary.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • To set an example for Receiving’s basic expectations.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to drive department success.

 

Experience You Bring

  • Demonstrated leadership and/or training experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Good organizational skills and flexibility in a changing work environment.
  • Able to work closely with others in a team-oriented approach.
  • Must possess the ability to lead by example regarding teamwork, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality are expected.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and follow all safety guidelines.
  • Experience in facilitating many employees at one time, including temporary and seasonal help.
  • Proficient in using Receiving options in a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • A good understanding of the global logistics market and the impacts that it has on our industry.
  • Familiar with general warehouse receiving best practices.
  • Understanding of Patagonia’s receiving processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Customs and Border Protection’s program – Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program is a plus.
  • PC computer skills – Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.
  • Previous forklift / heavy equipment experience required.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks daily
  • Ability to physically distinguish differences of color
  • Ability to consistently climb stairs and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to safely lift 70 lbs.
  • Comfortable with heights and working on equipment lifted from the ground

 

Hours

  • 5:30am – 2:00pm, Monday-Friday. Must be willing to work other days of the week if necessary.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as seasonal volume may affect the number of hours (higher/lower) necessary to complete the workload for the day.
