The Venue

Often referred to as the “Jewel of the Canadian Broadcast Centre”, the one-of-a-kind studio is located in the heart of downtown Toronto at 250 Front Street West. The Glenn Gould Studio is named after one of the most celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century, we honour the legacy of Glenn Gould by operating as a centre of excellence for Canadian and international performances, recordings, and events.

Glenn Gould Studio is also a premier event venue for audio recordings, annual meetings, town halls, award shows, film screenings, conferences, lectures, trade shows, fundraising galas, and cocktail receptions. Technical services include webcasting, A/V and post-production, and multi-remote broadcasts.

Your role

As the Project Manager for the Glenn Gould Studio, you are responsible for ensuring all events and other production services and resources provided by the venue meet the needs of internal programming partners and external clients. As the primary contact on a project or event, you have the overall authority and accountability to ensure the process remains simple, timely, cost-effective, and meets Glenn Gould Studio objectives and goals. In managing assigned projects from inception to completion, you will give direction, resolve conflicts and encourage active communication to take place between all affected parties in order to find creative solutions to technical/production and business problems and constraints. You will also support the Glenn Gould Studio sales and marketing initiatives, led by Senior Manager, Sales and Operations.

Key Tasks:

Receive requests from clients for project resources and provide them with recommendations throughout the project.
Provide senior management with all of the information required on the daily operations of the Glenn Gould Studio.
Collaborate with schedulers and source technicians and all required resources for all Glenn Gould Studio events, broadcasts, and recordings.
With proper direction, conduct operational feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and recommend solutions to clients and management. Provides cost and revenue information for monthly forecasting.
Work in conjunction with the Senior Manager and executive producers and producers to ensure all aspects of the production are realized.
Review key requirements with partners to ensure accuracy and to ascertain production priorities. Advise partners of potential problems, and recommend and consult on solutions. Ensure partners and clients are aware of safety guidelines.
Make decisions in collaboration with producers with respect to crew assignments. Provide guidance and direction to internal staff to meet production needs and deadlines.
Consult with production regarding ongoing resource usage costs, solicit feedback on resource quality and performance and provide reports as necessary.
Initiate and chair meetings throughout the process, as well as post-mortems, ensuring involvement of key production personnel. Provide reports on meetings and measures of success to management.
Monitor and recommend business policies, practices, and standards for the assignment and scheduling of production resources to ensure consistent and efficient communication and workflow in the processing of production requests.
Ensure timely and clear communication pertaining to projects to various internal departments and clients.
​​Primary client liaison from project initiation to final billing, responsible for clear and accurate information sharing both to the key client contact and to the studio’s tech and event team leads.
Accurately track project budget in excel project file, request invoices from finance, and clearly communicate billing and contract policies to clients.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

In-depth knowledge and understanding of events and productions including but not limited to; corporate events and meetings, concerts, recordings, and live radio, television, and digital broadcasts.
3-5 years of project management experience.
Completion of Project Management certification is considered an asset.
Extensive knowledge of venue and/or studio operations.
Understanding of production processes including facilities, resource capacities, and related equipment.
Ability to find creative methods of operation that will maintain the quality of the productions while minimizing costs.
Strong client relations skills.
Knowledge of various CBC business policies, professional project management practices and use of standard software applications including Microsoft Office and ScheduALL is required. You must be highly proficient in excel and budget tracking.
Exceptional diplomacy, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
An acute attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
Keen sense of timeliness and ability to work calmly under pressure.
