Position Summary


In this position of Programs Coordinator, this person will be responsible for supporting the needs of multisport development and creating value-added programming for our 13 age group (amateur athletes) world teams called Team USA. This includes creation and management of program budgets, organizing rosters, and working with athletes, serving as a World Triathlon (International Federation) liaison, interfacing with our assigned travel agency and USA Triathlon staff around each world championship location. This person will work with other business unit staff in fulfilling the duties of this role.


Additionally, the Program Coordinator will assist with select NCAA program details as dictated by the Chief Sport Development Officer which includes management of the NCAA interns, and recognition programs across the organization (All-American, Athlete of the Year, Multisport Awards).


General Duties and Responsibilities


Team USA

  • Manage Team USA (USAT Age Group Amateur Athletes) World Championship teams for Short and Long Course Triathlon, Super Sprint Time Trial, Mixed Relay, Aquathlon, Standard and Long Distance Aquabike, Long, Short and Standard Duathlon, Off-Road and Winter Triathlon which includes but is not limited to distributing qualification emails, apparel, transportation and additional event details
  • Manage on-site processing of athletes at all world championship qualification events
  • Work closely with marketing team on selection and design of apparel and distribution process
  • Complete all registrations for above noted teams into the World Triathlon platform
  • Organize Team USA qualification sign-ups and follow-up communications from National Championship events
  • Manage all onsite sign-up and verification
  • Work closely with travel partners on Team USA travel packages
  • Daily communications with Team USA athletes (Facebook posts, calls, emails, etc.), website updates, and monthly newsletters, as well as balancing with service team
  • Work with the USAT Service team on their needs for responding to defined levels of inquiries
  • Work closely with World Triathlon contacts on Team USA rosters, wire transfers, event inquiries and National Federation mentoring program
  • Build all World Championship registration sites on the USAT registration platform for deposits and race fees
  • Run Medex Insurance reports and distribute cards to Team USA athletes
  • Coordinate selection and travel details for Team USA support staff (Mechanics, Massage Therapists, Doctors, Chiropractors, and Coaches) in unison with travel contractor
  • Manage Team USA while on site at the world championships with USAT’s Chief Sport Development Officer as needed
  • Manage Facebook, Slack and What’s App pages and other social sites as needed
  • Working closely with partners on parade kit closing and required racing gear
  • Leading the process for what additional items to sell at events – qualifiers and worlds
  • Other duties as assigned



Recognition Programs

  • All-American program management
    • Overall management to elevate the program through the provision of more intangible offerings in place of expenses surrounding additional item purchases
    • Work closely with USA Triathlon merchandiser to create a more robust merchandise skew offering for athletes
    • Develop stronger messaging throughout the year of what the program is and how athletes can earn that high distinction.
  • Manage the Athlete of the Year Program with the Age Group and Multisport Committees
  • Manage the Multisport Awards Program with the Age Group Committee


  • Work directly with Chief of Sport Development on NCAA Women’s programming including:
  • Be part of calls with the NCAA Coaches Association as needed
  • Assist in noted retention and recruitment of athlete and teams’ efforts that do not have a direct relationship to institution recruitment
  • Event liaison for selected National Qualifier events, including National Championship
  • Travel to and/or coordinate staff travel to NCAA events as needed
  • Update website on a regular basis
  • Managing product procurement of all items for NCAA Qualifiers/National Championship
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or sport management preferred and 2-4 years related work experience
  • 3-5 years of Project/Program Management experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software/digital functionality such as database management, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and social media.
  • Extremely personable with excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak and present in front of both small and large groups
  • Willingness to travel regularly and work additional hours as necessary, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment as part of a team atmosphere, including effective coordination with members of other departments.
  • Experience within, or knowledge of, the multisport or endurance industries is beneficial but not required.

This position will require non-traditional work hours including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Additionally, this position will require relocation to Colorado Springs.

Additional Job Information:

Hiring Pay Range: $38k-$42k

This is a full time, non-exempt position.
