Full-Time Program Manager, Student Success

EDUCAUSE has an opportunity for a Project Manager to support our work as a participant in the Advising Success Network (ASN). The ASN is part of the Gates Foundation strategy intended to increase opportunity and mobility for historically underserved students by improving implementation of advising solutions at scale. The Project Manager makes a meaningful contribution to the Advising Success Network by ensuring that content, products, services, and activities are collaboratively developed, efficiently coordinated, effectively delivered, and constantly evaluated and improved according to network needs and EDUCAUSE mission and capacities. This position is grant funded and currently budgeted through 2020, with the potential for extension into 2021.

In this role, you will coordinate multiple projects and deadlines, manage internal and external project and service partnerships (including with EDUCAUSE Marketing, IT, Membership, and Corporate, and external project partners), and help identify and cultivate new project and service efficiencies and models, to ensure products and content are successfully developed and executed in a timely manner. This includes planning and coordinating resources internally across the EDUCAUSE departments and program areas and ensuring work flows and resource allocations are functioning smoothly and according to staff and resource capacities.

Managing the Advising Success Network multiple concurrent projects requires excellent skills in project management, communication, collaboration, feedback, and adaptation. The successful candidate will bring a passion for the EDUCAUSE mission to support information technology in higher education, experience in higher education IT, a keen project management skill set, an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, and superlative organizational skills, attention to detail, and results orientation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management
Develop and manage a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional, dynamic portfolio of projects and deadlines, ensuring work is scheduled and completed within specified timeframes and that member expectations and needs are met. Identify potential barriers to achieving deadlines or resource conflicts and help resolve or escalate as appropriate.
Develop and maintain the ASN schedule of projects and products to ensure affected EDUCAUSE staff are aware of and prepared to support active and upcoming projects and products.
Keep a detailed budget for the ASN portfolio of projects and produce reports as needed.
Determine feasible timeline for new projects from other EDUCAUSE units and external entities, given current staff commitments. Determine resource needs and constraints for new projects.
Understand capacity to produce program content, and research and analytics products and services and the capacity of other parts of EDUCAUSE to support them. Identify resource gaps and develop proposals to close them.
Serve as the primary point of project coordination between Student Success and other EDUCAUSE units. Ensure clear communication among relevant stakeholders.
Oversee project planning, including coordination of internal staff time and resources, across department projects and tasks.
Operational Management
Identify and implement processes for improving work flows and resource allocations.
Work with Marketing to help maintain various ASN website content.
Oversee development and maintenance of schedule of outreach activities (webinars, academic and professional conferences, etc.).
Programs Evaluation and Improvement
Work with ASN to develop an evaluation framework to assess value and to identify areas for improvement.
Assess and evaluate viability of proposed improvements and new content options.
Facilitate evaluation of recommendations to enhance existing content, programs, and services; help establish service quality and improvement goals.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; a degree or concentration in Communications, Business, Public Relations, Psychology, Social Sciences, or Education preferred.
A minimum of five years’ experience in project management; experience in business administration, personnel management or group facilitation management a plus.
Experience working in the higher education community preferred.
Experience working in a research environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a variety of groups including technical, professional, and executive audiences
Strong professional editing and presentation skills
Ability to work independently, and prioritize and complete diverse tasks and multiple projects in an efficient, timely, and well-organized manner
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products and online collaboration tools such as Smartsheet or Google Docs
Knowledgeable in budget development and management
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and recommend better work processes
Must be available to travel to support projects.
