Full-Time Program Manager, Health Equity & Patient Experience

Job Description

As a member of the Centre for Innovation & Excellence in Child and Family Centred Care leadership team, the Health Equity and Patient Experience Program Manager will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of organization-wide projects and initiatives focusing on patient/family experience and health equity.  Using project management methodology, and in consultation with patients, families, healthcare providers, and other internal and external stakeholders, they will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of organization-wide initiatives and programs that aim to improve the experience of patients and families and address health disparities. The Program Manager will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing patient and family experience data sets and socio-demographic data sets to identify trends and areas for improvement.   In addition, the Program Manager will support the work of the Indigenous Health Council, Health Equity Data Steering Committee, and Patient and Family Experience Committee.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Shape and manage the overall patient/experience and health equity Program by coordinating and executing on related initiatives and projects
  • Conduct literature reviews and external scans to identify and evaluate best practices in patient/family experience and health equity
  • Review and analyze all patient and family experience data, identify key themes and develop reports and presentations that communicate the findings
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of hospital-wide data-driven improvement initiatives aimed at advancing patient and family experience
  • Provide consultation to all departments and assist staff in identifying and closing gaps in patient/family experience
  • Participate in the review and implementation of new patient and family experience measurement strategies and tools (e.g. Real-Time surveying)
  • Manage the collection, review, and use of socio-demographic patient/family data.
  • Review and analyze socio-demographic data to identify key themes and health disparities and develop reports and presentations to communicate findings
  • Plan and execute on an annual calendar of monthly Health Equity Rounds.  Identify speakers and facilitators and manage all related logistics.
  • Present at conferences and submit manuscripts for publication

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Social Work) or a Master’s degree in Business Administration or Health Administration.
  • Certification in Project Management an asset
  • 2-5 years of strong project or program management experience in health-care settings
  • Strong experience analyzing data, identifying trends and report writing
  • Strong knowledge of patient/family experience
  • Strong knowledge of the social determinants of health and other key health equity concepts, issues and trends
  • Experience providing leadership on initiatives and projects that promote equity and patient/family experience
  • Excellent leadership abilities
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer/database knowledge and skills: Microsoft Office, SharePoint, RedCap
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to apply anti-oppressive and anti-racist frameworks
