Environmental Incentives seeks to hire a Program Coordinator to support USAID’s ability to plan, implement, and coordinate our efforts across a portfolio of projects in the climate, biodiversity, environment, water, energy, and infrastructure sectors. The Program Coordinator is a crucial member of the core management team of our portfolio. This position will provide the Portfolio Director and the Program Manager with program management and administrative support, including budgeting, contracting, recruiting, tracking, reporting, meeting support, and coordination with various staff and projects. 

The Program Coordinator will also provide input to the development of client services and products, including contributing to drafts, providing facilitation support, and serving as a professional first point of contact for some client communications.  

The successful candidate will effectively work across portfolios and projects to solve problems, create efficiencies, and communicate effectively. This role adeptly takes on a variety of tasks while helping to perpetuate existing best practices and establish new systems and procedures when needed. 


  • Coordinates travel arrangements. Supports office management, including equipment management and space use.  
  • Oversees project-related procurement and work with outside vendors.  
  • Maintains and improves filing and workflow systems and processes.  
  • Serves as a point of contact on administrative support and coordination for, both across the team and with other teams in EI, including HR and Operations. 
  • Helps project teams execute highly professional client and partner engagements. 
  • Manages production processes, trackers, and internal workflow. 
  • Supports all aspects of contracting, subcontracting, and recruiting. 
  • Provides meeting support, including coordinating logistics, preparing meeting materials, preparing minutes and actions, and/or coordinating follow-up.  
  • Supports financial management, efficiently completing tasks around accounting, budgeting, analysis, and reporting. 


Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years relevant experience or a Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Demonstrated administrative experience managing multiple tasks. 
  • Experience providing technical and administrative support to multiple team members, consultants, clients, and stakeholders. 
  • Experience in basic budgeting.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in government contracting and procurement regulations, practices and documentation. 
  • Familiarity and experience updating computer software and license information. 
  • Experience in international development, USAID or other donor experience.  
  • Experience in communications and/or knowledge management. 
  • Cross-cultural competence and experiences working, living, or studying in other countries. 
  • Training in a field relevant to environmental science, international development, communications, or project management certification. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong numeric literacy. 
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of MS Office suite (particularly MS Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar Google Drive/File Stream, Sheets, Docs). 
  • Exceptional customer service skills, a problem-solving approach and adaptability — an eagerness to assist others, and flexibility in taking on the work at hand. 
  • Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong facilitation and copy-editing skills. 
  • Ability to set priorities and adjust appropriately. 
  • Willingness to be available outside of regular office hours for international calls and other time-sensitive tasks. 


  • Legally authorized to work in the United States with no restrictions. 
  • Criminal background check required 


The position will be based in Washington, DC. Environmental Incentives is implementing a hybrid work model in which employees will be required to work in the office approximately two days per week.     

Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or legally authorized exemption is required for all Environmental Incentives employees working in the United States, regardless of office location or remote work. Selected candidates will be required to provide proof of full vaccination before beginning employment with Environmental Incentives. Full vaccination is defined as 2 weeks after the final dose of the requisite vaccination. 


The starting salary range for this position is $49,680 – $58,478 per year. Environmental Incentives also offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
