Full-Time Program Associate

Immigration Policy Lab – Posted by jenniferfei Stanford, California, United States

Job Description

Stanford University is seeking to hire a full-time Program Associate to join the Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) to work on its GeoMatch research portfolio. In partnership with governments, these projects study and implement an algorithm-based matching tool to connect refugees and immigrants to locations within a host country where they are most likely to thrive. This global research initiative combines high-quality academic research with the work of a tech startup: product design, strategic partnerships, and advances in artificial intelligence.

The Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) at Stanford University evaluates and designs policies surrounding the integration of immigrants and refugees worldwide. By producing new evidence and translating it into creative solutions, we seek to improve the lives of these newcomers and strengthen the communities receiving them. We engage with community-based organizations as well as local, state, national, and international governmental agencies to test the effectiveness of current policies. We also design new policies, programs, and tools that ultimately affect millions of migrants, as well as the economic and social prosperity of the countries in which they live. Our talented team of faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students is creating an innovative research model that combines the quality and rigor of an academic unit with the efficiency and innovation of a civic-tech lab.

Reporting to and working closely with the Program Director (GeoMatch), the Program Associate will work on the day-to-day operations of our wide range of GeoMatch research projects, while continuing to expand the research portfolio and projects across multiple countries. The Program Associate will support in building and maintaining relationships with IPL’s external partners, which include governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as in the identification and development of new areas for innovation and collaboration. The Program Associate will coordinate and manage various research protocols, from large-scale evaluations of AI tools in partnership with governments to surveys for administrative data collection and analysis. The Program Associate will work closely with the Program Director, faculty, postdocs, students, and staff to ensure that research is adequately funded and completed effectively and efficiently. As part of our collaborative teams, the Program Associate can receive co-authorship on papers resulting from projects that she or he manages.

We are looking for candidates who have the ability, experience, and enthusiasm to manage and continue to grow a diverse international research portfolio focused on improving integration outcomes for immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers worldwide using innovative methods and data-driven tools.
