Full-Time Professional Development Instructor

Job Description

The Professional Development Instructor (PDI) for Road to Hire will support one or more of the Road to Hire programs including Road to Hire Pathways, Golden Door Scholar Fellowships and/or Road to Hire Apprenticeships. The PDI should be motivated by the opportunity to develop and create opportunities for under-resourced and/or underemployed young adults in our community.

The PDI will assist in building and teaching the curriculum designed to educate young adults on professional development and life skills. To date, the curriculum covers core etiquette and career readiness skills; such as, personal brand, email etiquette, resume and cover letter, interview prep and other career readiness skills.

The PDI will also manage classroom logistics; such as, managing attendance, grading, preparing the weekly schedule, coordinating the volunteer activities, overseeing the development of participants in the program, etc.

Due to the nature of this role of a completed COVID-19 vaccination series is required.

Starting salary typically between $50,000 – $55,000 annually.

What You’ll Do:

  • Facilitate training on professional development curriculum such as public speaking, email etiquette, personal brand, elevator pitch, etc. that will enable one to be career ready.
  • Grade and track students’ professional performance and manage students’ attendance
  • Assess instructional effectiveness and conduct training impact evaluations; innovate and update curriculum based on need.
  • Conduct curriculum audits to ensure the effectiveness of each training.
  • Provide positive and constructive feedback to program participants on their performance week over week.
  • Coordinate offsite visits that are in alignment with professional development curriculum.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 1+  years of teaching or training, and/or facilitating highly preferred.
  • Background or experience in teaching and/or education, preferably within high school or college classrooms or programs
  • Comfortable leading trainings in front of a group of 20+ young adults virtually.
  • Broad familiarity with life skills that are transferable to a technologically based role.
  • High energy; ability to keep young adults engaged and ready to learn more.
  • Accountable team player; desire to work in a fast-paced environment where you’ll be expected to be adaptable in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker; able to quickly identify the needs of a class and adapt curriculum/training’s to fit those needs.
  • Solid relationship-building skills; ability to quickly build trust with a wide variety of different stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working autonomously.
  • Has an aptitude for making real-time decisions, measuring results and changing course when necessary.
  • Solid alignment with Road to Hire’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.
  • This role does require proof of a completed COVID-19 vaccination series
